Take the Wheel
« on: October 03, 2014, 05:27:34 PM »
If anyone here has ever used the book Correct Writing in school, they'd know what I'm referring to.   To those who don't, Take the Wheel is a writing assignment in which a snippet of a story is given and the writer has to us it somehow in a story.   Yes, it was for school, but they can also be rather fun, especially when a person gets very creative.  For me, there's fun in trying to twist the original story in a way that the person who wrote the snippet would never have imagined.

Would anyone here be interested in trying this?   It could be solely for fun, or we could even put them up for anonymous voting, with the winner getting a hearty virtual slap on the back.
The royal feast was done; the King
Sought some new sport to banish care,
And to his jester cried: "Sir Fool,
Kneel now, and make for us a prayer!"

The jester doffed his cap and bells,
And stood the mocking court before;
They could not see the bitter smile
Behind the painted grin he wore.

He bowed his head, and bent his knee
Upon the Monarch's silken stool;
His pleading voice arose: "O Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!"
