I have a software development client looking for a specifically matched salesperson as they are shifting from a partner sales model to a direct sales model. The basic salary is £50,000 per year and you could REASONABLY expect to double that with sales commission and performance bonuses. i.e. not pie in the sky targets but very realistic and achieveable ones. I am setting the targets with the owner of the firm who I have worked with for two years.
The client sells a coding analytics tool that monitors coding effort and coding quality in software development and provides the head of software development or CTO with reports of which of their developers are hitting performance targets, writing quality code and which are falling behind. The tool can measure both quality and quantity of code. It's clever stuff developed at Cambridge University. Tool costs about £50k per year. You'd probably need to make 5 sales in the first year to keep your job. At around 8-10 sales you would be making £100k per year. It's pretty easy to cost justify it provided you can reach the decision-maker. You will get training and help there, from me.
I would see the job as ideal for someone who can work in London and sell to SE England and the M4 corridor. Married or single as there won't be much overnight travel, 5 nights a year tops I would think. It's probably more useful that you know something about software development and project management than you are a highly experienced salesperson. This is what I would describe as a technical sales role. i.e. long on credibility and short on BS and blarney. You probably would not even need to wear a suit on half of the visits, just smart casual.
PM me if interested and I could tell you more.
