One of the more pivotal battles in history took place on this date of October 28 in A.D. 312 when Emperor Constantine the Great defeated the forces of Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. This would pave the way for Constantine to issue his famous Edict of Milan which ended three centuries of persecutions of the Church.
