Greetings fro WNY
« on: August 17, 2020, 07:54:42 PM »
Hi. I joined a while ago, but this is my first post.

What brings you to SD? I have long been drawn to Catholic Tradition, and 2 1/2 years ago I finally began attending a TLM and I haven't looked back. I seek other like-minded souls to grow in my knowledge and recover what's been missing in my life.

Are you a member of other Internet fora?  If so, care to mention which one(s)? Fisheaters; Defenders of the Catholic Faith (Steve Ray); only have posted sporadically in both; and St. Isidore's (haven't posted in there yet.)

Why did you choose your username and avatar? ’Paulcoholic' as a pun. Real name is ’Paul’ and I am a recovered alcoholic. Avatar is that of my favorite saint; Maximilian Maria Kolbe
What is your state of life - single, married, religious, or still discerning? MARRIED!
Whereabouts do you live "in real life"? (be as specific or as general as you wish!) western New York State. A little bit south of Buffalo
Personality type?
Favorite books? Tolkien. "Mystical City of God" by Ven. Maria de Jesus de Agreda. Too many others to mention
Favorite movies? Many, may mention them later. Mostly 'classic.'
Favorite TV shows? Star Trek (except for the new ones, post-2005)
Favorite sports/teams meh
Have any hobbies? Gardening
Pet peeves: No pet peeves. Two pet cats, though. Ninja and Boots
Fun random fact about yourself: Hmmmm.....

Welcome.  :toth:
Like John Vennari (RIP) said "Why not just do it?  What would it hurt?"

Welcome! You must like snow?  ::)

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael’s Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

“My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you’re supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen.”

Welcome to the forum; I also am a big fan of both Tolkien and Sr. Mary of Agreda. I hope this forum will be a source of spiritual help to you.
"The World Must Conform to Our Lord and not He to it." Rev. Dennis Fahey CSSP

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Cardinal Pie of Potiers
