  • O Mary, Conceived without sin, Pray for us.
  • Religion: Catholic Christian
An estimated 150,000 people die every day. After a soul dies, Masses and prayers said for that person will have their effect, but it may be less than if they were said when that person was still alive. Hence, devotional prayers for all souls about to die every day is an important complement to prayers for the departed; in their last moments, souls can be converted and come to Faith, or obtain contrition, or if in grace even gain an indulgence, either partial or plenary - a priceless gift to them for which they and God will be grateful to us who pray for them for all eternity. So, let us resolve henceforth, as far as lies in our power, not to allow one single soul ever again to be lost, but as God wills the salvation of all, let us try to remember without fail to pray every day for all those who are going to die that day.

They could moreover be delivered from hell, from which there would otherwise be no remedy; they may be given the grace to receive Viaticum, a priceless blessing for them, which will enable them to speedily enter Paradise. Thus, it is urgent to remember dying souls.

The below are some sample prayers we could use. From: https://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/prayers-for-the-dying.html

1. "O most merciful Jesus, Lover of souls, I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thine Own Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony and are going to die this day. Amen.

Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have pity on the dying."

2. "Almighty and merciful God, Who hast bestowed upon mankind saving remedies and the gift of everlasting life, look graciously upon us Thy servants and comfort the souls which Thou hast made, that, in the hour of their passing, cleansed from all stain of sin, they may deserve to be presented to Thee, their Creator, by the hands of the holy angels. Through Christ our Lord." Amen.

4. Everlasting Father, for the sake of the love which Thou didst bear to St. Joseph, whom Thou didst chose above all to occupy Thy place on earth, Have mercy on us and on those who are dying.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc.

5. Everlasting Son of God, for the sake of Thy love towards St. Joseph, who didst protect Thee so faithfully on earth, have mercy on us all and on those who are dying.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc.

6. Everlasting Divine Spirit, for the sake of Thy love toward St. Joseph, who so carefully protected Mary, Thy most holy and beloved spouse, have mercy on us and those who are dying.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc."

We can as well say the Hail Mary praying for souls in the hour of their deaths, as we would pray for ours, or other similar prayers.
Mary, our Heavenly Mother, implores those who receive Holy Communion Daily, or at least Weekly, to Offer their Lives. TEXT OF THE LIFE OFFERING: "My dear Jesus, before the Holy Trinity, Our Heavenly Mother, and the whole Heavenly Court, united with Your most Precious Blood and Your Sacrifice on Calvary, I hereby Offer my whole Life to the Intention of Your Sacred Heart and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Together with my life, I place at Your disposal all Holy Masses, all my Holy Communions, all Rosaries, all acts of consecration, all my good deeds, all my sacrifices, and the suffering of my entire life for the Adoration and Supplication of the Holy Trinity, for Unity in our Holy Mother Church, for the Holy Father and Priests, for good Priestly vocations, and for all souls until the end of the world. O my Jesus, please accept my life Sacrifice and my offerings and give me Your grace that I may persevere obediently until my death." Amen. https://www.avemariamaternostra.com/life-offering-promises.html It is recommended that you make this Life Offering as soon as you feel ready, and to renew it from time to time.

Please read the Blessed Mother's promises in the link: those who make it seriously will face no Purgatory (promise 5) since they would have completed it here, will have all their loved ones released from Purgatory the day they offer their life with intent to persevere (promise 4), and can save the souls of all their family members in due time by their life offering (promise 3). It will benefit all souls who have ever lived until time's end (promise 2) A simple effective way for thousands of us to save millions of souls. Inflamed in Large Letters of Love, you will have your name written in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary forever (promise 1).
