Where has John Moreland been my whole life?

I think he ate Townes Van Zandt and assumed his powers...

This line in Blacklist is... wow.

This record is a guilty pleasure. It is not pious. The song is "Ballerina" from the album Astral Weeks. It used to be my favorite record ever. I do not listen to it often anymore except when I am in the right mood and not feeling pious but instead feeling nostalgic or broken-hearted. It is a dangerous mood. The kind of mood that will make you seek out an old flame who is now married and try to go to bed with her and break up her marriage. Bad thoughts. Don't worry, I have no desire to do anything that wicked. But I may listen to this record a dozen times over the next week or so. I have never listened to a record as often as this one yet I never got tired of it. I just wish "The Way Yong Lovers Do" was not on the album and instead there was another song that fits the mood better, even a lesser song like "Bulbs" which is also upbeat. Sometimes I think about romantic love. Not lust, I never have lustful thoughts anymore, but the love of being together with a woman and caring about each other. Like cooking and eating breakfast together in the morning before the day begins. It is something the thought of is hard to give up even though you know you will never marry. I still love women and think they are beautiful even though I never want to touch one again.

I adore Thee O Christ, and I bless Thee, because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world!

I think this is actually better than the original...

I don't think that Nebraska is very popular but when I think about it critically as a work of art I think it is the only good record that Bruce Springsteen ever made. And I think "Highway Patrolman" was his best song. It cuts my soul and makes it bleed. And that is the only purpose of music in my mind. I do not care for the original but the cover is wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
