The more it changes the more it stays the same:

QuoteMichael Flynn was just nominated by Trump to head National Security.  Who is Michael Flynn?

The American Conservative Magazine on Gen. Michael Flynn:

"Flynn's specific recommendations seem to involve endless warfare against what he calls the "the terror armies, above all in the Middle East and Libya," which would commit the U.S. to an unknown number of conflicts for the foreseeable future that would only be concluded when we "win." In other words, Flynn offers a recipe for perpetual war in predominantly Muslim countries, and if we take his rhetoric about the "enemy coalition" seriously he may be talking about waging wars in other parts of the world as well. His willingness to blur distinctions between disparate and mutually hostile groups suggests that the U.S. would find itself fighting multiple enemies at the same time. Flynn also thinks that the U.S. should "clearly and forcefully attack their crazy doctrines," which credits our government with a degree of competence and cultural understanding that it has not demonstrated in decades. The U.S. could denounce various foreign leaders as "false prophets," as Flynn suggests, but why would anyone inclined to listen to these "false prophets" care what Washington said about them? Likewise, "insisting on the superiority of our own political vision" is all very well, but it would achieve nothing except to intensify resentment against the U.S.
"

QuoteFlynn has pushed back against calls for the United States to lower its footprint in the Middle East or to disengage from other parts of the world. "The U.S. must put the Middle East at the forefront of its foreign policy or this will unravel quickly," he said in a September 2015 interview.[17] In January 2015 he said: "Retreat, retrenchment and disarmament are historically a recipe for disaster."[18]

Flynn has also stated that U.S. "unwillingness to fight" creates more danger for the United States than the "arrogance of American power." He told the Daily Beast in January 2015: "The dangers to the U.S. do not arise from the arrogance of American power, but from unpreparedness or an excessive unwillingness to fight when fighting is necessary (ed. which is continuously necessary because there are always monsters to be slain).

So much for a NEW foreign policy of disengagement. This is going to be a short honeymoon.

Drain the swamp like h*ll. Trump looks like he is making it bigger and deeper.

Looks like I will have to go back to planning and building a bunker.

War forever until we are destroyed. This is nothing more than a random walk towards Armageddon.

Prayerful

We will see. Just as long as Pres-elect Trump abandons the tomfoolery of contronting Russia in the Ukraine and Syria (largely through indirect aid to agents of chaos like Islamic State and supporting Turkey in its neo-Ottoman ambitions, together with its auxiliaries like the Islamist FSA) the world will be a much better place. The Military Industrial Complex (first named by President Eishenhower) has a hunger for foes. It is very negative in a way, but Gen Flynn is likelier to opt for easier, less risky, targets.

Some people on this forum will settle for nothing less than what they've decided is the right course of action, otherwise it is all a waste.

Not really hard to see why we're at where we are.

Not to mention that Trump's top economic advisor is....wait for it....a hedge fund manager and former Goldman Sachs employee!

I highly doubt that any of the Trumpkins on here will ever abandon faith in their messiah, of course. They willingly voted for a warmonger who loves sodomites. Why use reason and critical thinking when you can just scream "MAGA!"?

CNN you should know better! LOL

Did they include the video of the white guy being dragged from his car and beaten by black guys as a woman shouted "he voted Trump", while another was looking through his car to see what he could rob. Sorry I forgot racism only comes from whites, so they deserve a good beating but dont dare write insults about minorities on a wall.

We in the UK seen all this crap about the rise in hate crimes from the Lberal media after Brexit. Do you honestly believe after the US election people just turned into racists and started attacking non whites? May be nothing has changed and now they just decide to report it, or more likely you will find a lot of it is a setup to try and get the people that voted for Trump to change their opinions.
Can you prove that a Trump supporter wrote some of this graffiti? No. Can you prove that a black lives matter supporter with an agenda wrote this? No

Thanks for proving my point. I doubt you'll ever understand that you've been played by a con artist. That would require actual thinking, instead of emoting.

I agree that some people are getting carried away and acting almost as if Trump were a messiah.  On the other hand, I understand the emotional response.  It isn't even my country and I am just thrilled to see somebody placing an obstacle in the path of leftist totalitarianism.  For the first time in my memory, pro-life seems like it may have some political clout.  I am really excited about the possibility of legislation to save babies' lives.  Why wouldn't people be emotional?

I not so thrilled with this forum looking more like an alt.right site than a Catholic forum.  I am looking forward to the MAGA at the top of the screen being restored to a reminder to pray.  But I am willing to be patient because I get the excitement.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

I not so thrilled about the MAGA thing, either. But I'm patient. :)

Flynn has been a board member of ACT! for America[58] and sees the Muslim faith as one of the root causes of Islamist terrorism.[62] He has described Islam as a political ideology and a cancer,[62][63] and stated on Twitter that the "fear of Muslims is RATIONAL."[58] Initially supportive of Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US, Flynn later told Al Jazeera that a blanket ban was unworkable and has called instead for "vetting" of entrants from countries like Syria.[58] Flynn has stated the U.S. "should extradite Fethullah Gülen" to Turkey and "work constructively with Russia" in Syria.[33][64]

That is not a neo-con. He was probably the best pick Trump could make and aligns most closely with Trump's foreign policy goals. I.e. defeat ISIS, cooperate with Russia. Name me one other politician or military leader, currently in power anywhere in the western world, who has publicly stated that the problem with terrorism is islam itself, not an "extremist" form of it, but simply islam, period.

All of the above is both true and in accordance with a traditional view of warfare. If you think pacifism or "modern war pacifism" or "just war pacifism" or whatever you want to call it is Catholic tradition you are very wrong. Do you have ANY idea how militaristic medieval states were? Does it really trouble you when a man says an unwillingness to fight is dangerous when fighting is necessary? What the hell effeminate church do you belong to?
