covenant eyes..not what I thought it would be..need suggestions
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:33:28 PM »
I have a friend who asked me to  be an accountability partner with covenant eyes.  I can supposedly see everything this person is doing on the internet, and discuss problems that they have online with them.  This person is trying to avoid impure things.  So the problem is, I can't see a darned thing on the daily report on youtube or google video because they are secured sites. At least this is what the covenant eyes people tell me.   I can see they visited this site 10 times, but cannot see what content they viewed. And I am thinking that this is useless.  I mean, really, for impurity, you don't need more than youtube.

So, I am wondering if there is anything out there that a person can use that can actually tell me what a person is looking at on youtube or googlevideo.  I really want to help this friend, and I don't think this covenant eyes is the answer.

Do you have access to the computer? You could set up some content blockers, like parental controls where only you know the password. Aren't you able to block specific sites that way? That's what I would do, and block Youtube entirely, or at least turn on "safe search" settings to block adult content.

This might be more up your alley:

https://www.accountable2you.com/ReportExamples (scroll down for full activity/youtube example)

It shows actual youtube videos watched.

I have not figured out how to put youtube on safe search and then have it inaccessible by the user to change it back to wide open on my own computer...let alone someone else.  I have had nothing but trouble with that site >:(  Makes you suspect that they like having disgusting porn for everyone to see hard to control.

thank you so much, I will check that out.  Can it work if the user is signed into their account, well we shall see.  Same for google search and video, if they are signed into their account, you cant see a darned thing on covenant eyes.
