What is the proper length of time for an examination of conscience for someone who hasn't confessed for a year?

diaduit

Would you ask for a general confession?

For a general confession I'd imagine a few hours

Maybe you can write everything down once it comes to mind until you get to confession.

Just go through the 10 commandments and the precepts of the Church. It shouldn't take that long.
My Lord and my God.

Here is a good examination of conscience written by a priest in 1959.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Bonaventure

"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."
