Hello

I am a Chinese convert to Catholicism. I became a traditionalist and started going to the SSPX last year after realising and studying the crisis in the Church due to Pope Francis, and I have stopped going to the Novus Ordo.

Welcome

How do you feel, as Chinese, with persecution of your fellow kinsmen in China?
I hear that the government has its own designed Catholic Churches that are accepted and others in the wilderness not.
Many state sponsored Priests get sent to European Seminaries and go back undercover to mock Catholics in China who follow the council of Trend or Vatican II.

I pray for Chinese Christians who are persecuted.
Peace be with you.

God be praised!
Welcome! Out of interest what were your sources for the study of the crisis, and when did you convert to Novus Ordo in the first place (presuming that you did!).

The situation in China is complicated, as some Bishops of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association have been dominated to Dioceses both by the regime and by Rome. There is a secret SSPX apostolate among both the Patriotic Association and the Underground Church to promote the use of the Tridentine Mass among them.

I first studied the crisis through the novels of Father Malachi Martin, and then I read the biography of Archbishop Lefebvre written by Bishop Tissier de Mallerais. I converted to the Novus Ordo in 2010.

Don't depend too much on literature written by Malachi Martin or the SSPX. Check out every source possible from all sides of the issue. 'Tis only fair if you do.

Great to see you on this forum. :)

I agree that some of what Fr Martin claims maybe dodgy as he doesn't cite his sources and his books have no footnotes and bibliographies. However, Bishop Tissier's biography was very good and fair, even if a little detailed. It has even been praised by non-SSPX prelates and scholars.

I used to read loads of Conciliar and Novus Ordo books such as biographies of the modern Popes, etc. Not any longer.
