Why no HTTPS?

If one follows good practice by always using different passwords for different places on the Internet, the only good HTTPS would be here on SD is if one actually transmits sensitive information via PM. But here on SD why would that be a problem as long as the users have a warning not to? They already have assurance that the moderators do not read their PM's. Why would someone be sending passwords or SS numbers to other members in PM anyway? Is there any indication that wikileaks makes public any information from obscure forums?
