Why Modern Man Is Less Spiritual

Nikolai Berdyaev suggested that modern man is nicer and kinder but also less capable to endure suffering, less courageous, and less "spiritually strong" than those who came before him. Is this true? And, if so, what has happened to man in modernity? We look at the transformation of man through WWI, art, and subcultures, and suggest how we might begin to repair the damage.
