If you had biology, then you probably had the "monkeys in a room with typewriters for an infinite time who would type a perfect work of Shakespeare eventually" BS story trying to explain evolution.  I always responded that the probability is zero because monkeys don't have typewriters, an allusion to the deadlock problem of evolution.

Some other dudes have calculated the odds, but did it based off the heat death of the universe.

I never knew that was the argument of said conjecture, evolution. My understanding was that copy editors used that to bolster the spirits of the junior press corps.

To me the biggest problem with evolution is, even if concede that beneficial macro-mutations occur (which they don't anyway), how would the DNA know *what* to mutate?  If eyes would give an animal an advantage in survival, how would the DNA even have a concept of an eye if one didn't exist before!? If the animal doesn't have a concept of sight, how can it decide that being able to see would help it find food, defend itself, etc?

Common sense.  It also shows up in the more formal argument called the Information problem.
