Some people are saying it might have been an accident.  Something about live ammunition being carried on the plane which started popping off in the summer heat.

They were at 28,000ft when the plane started descending/explosion happened. Inversions can happen but at that altitude, the temperature was most definitely below freezing.

I was being serious.  It was Scott Ritter who made the claim in a podcast, although I could have got the exact details wrong.  But he definitely mentioned live ammunition on the plane and said something about hearing popping sounds on the video.

I'll see if I can find the podcast, but it's unlikely ...

I found the video.  The explanation about live ammunition on the plane starts at around 28.00.  Scott Ritter definitely says he heard "popping"" sounds on the video of the plane on the ground and that this was live ammunition going off in the heat - 28.08.

Ah, then I misunderstood you. I haven't watched the video but I thought you were saying he was implying the ammo going off in the heat caused the crash.

I'm not surprised there was ammo going off, guys like that do NOT travel unarmed.

I working with private jets and a lot of them are armed. Wagner's top brass definitely was.

Fun fact, if you fly private you don't need to go through security, at least in Europe.
