Hello to all

I am new to this forum, to be honest, I am new to forums in general.

I am a cradle Catholic, from England, United Kingdom. As a Traditional Roman Catholic, with a slight nod to moderate. I found this Forum to be of interest to me.

I have a interest in Church History, and Churches, of a more Traditional design. My choice of movie, is more of Christian theme, along with television.

I very much look forward to contributing on this forum.

Welcome! This is a fairly friendly forum. We have several Brits here.
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Hello Lynne
Many thanks for the welcome. I look forward to being as involved as much as I can.

Hello Heinrich

I think I will look through my Shakespeare Compendium, and become familiar with Henry V again.

Welcome to the forum! I share your interest in Church history; I just recommended the three volume set by Msgr. Phillip Hughes: "A History of the Catholic Church"; fantastic!
Eamon Duffy's volumes on correcting the accepted (anti-Catholic) bias of the history of the Protestant Reformation in England, is also a must read for any Catholic especially an English Catholic. His last work: "The Fires of Faith, Catholic England Under Mary Tudor", leaves one wondering "what if", Queen Mary hadn't died after only six years of reign? What if Cardinal Pole hadn't died on the same day? What if the English Catholics had staged a "coup d'etat" and  replaced Elizabeth with Mary Queen of Scots, or some other English Catholic noble. etc. etc.
I look forward to your participation, new members are always welcome.

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Hello Michael
Many thanks for the message. I am familiar with the work of Eamon Duffy. Also Antonia Fraser, who has done much work, with regards to the "Reformation" period of British history.

It certainly is an are that I am becoming more familiar with age. Although, there is so much history with the Catholic church, it is almost a full time occupation getting through it all.

A lot of what Duffy describes in Stripping of the Altar's took place after Vatican II.
Put not your trust in princes, in sons of men in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs he returns to his earth; on that very day his plans perish.

This is one book, that have been trying to get hold of for some time. Certainly will make an effort to find a copy.
