Godzilla. It moved about as fast as a slow moving Godzilla. I have never felt so strongly about a movie.

[spoiler]Empathy that we could never have for the characters is attempted very early on. One character becomes interesting, then he dies. We're left with the remainder of the movie with one dimensional characters. The only thing that would help it is if it had action at this point. But it doesn't. One more thing could help: someone could say something interesting. Doesn't happen. There's a little bit of slow moving moster fighting around the end. The ony good part was a monster killing scene that lasted about one minute.

One would never guess a movie with so many atomic blasts could be so boring.

My daughter and her husband recently saw Godzilla and they both said it was horrible.

On the advice of SD members I watched Out of the Furnace last night. It was quite good.

I don't get why any of you would go to a Godzilla movie, thinking it would be good.

I could say the same thing about video games. I can't imagine how anyone would spend so much time and money on a total waste of time, in my eyes. But I realize not everyone's eyes are my own, so I keep it to myself.

It was either that or the pervy xmen movie directed by a pervert.

Godzilla is pulpy B-movie fare by matter of content. It's theoretically possible for it to be elevated to something greater if it had been directed by Christopher Nolan, but that should be a very pleasant surprise, not an expectation.

A video game is simply a movie that accepts the user's input. At least, the good ones are.

Here we have an further proof of divergent tastes influencing perception.  I would have contended that movies are boring in general.  By extension, computer games comparable to movies would be dull as well and the best ones drop the cinematic sequences in favor of strategic depth, tactical exercises and mental challenges.

Consequently, a third option is to never go to the theater or play AAA computer games and stick with turn-based strategy titles.

Same topic, three paths, yet somehow they all avoid intersecting in any meaningful way.  Undoubtedly, somebody will soon contribute a fourth.

I enjoy watching bad movies from time to time, like Batman Forever. But I know it's bad from the outset.

I remember the one from 1998 or so. I liked it at the time. I've never seen it since. I was also a kid back then, so that factor comes into play. Anyway, I was expecting something similar. Not something great. Something OK. Not a Robert Breson film. There were so many things they could have done to make it better. Really obvious things.

On the plus side, it wasn't filthy like most movies these days. I'll take boring over filthy any day of the week.

Oh, and a video game is not a movie. Two different mediums. Read up on some Marshall McCluhan.

Oh, you're not attracted to the 99.9% of movies with their obligatory   soft porn      explicit sex ?  Can't understand why you would have any objection to those, George.   ;D

By the way I share your perception of video games.  I don't get it.  Never have.   OTOH, I have my own peculiar viewing tastes and "hidden addictions" which could also leave others scratching their heads.

Oh, I can't stand that movie. Tommy Lee Jones was horrible as Two Face. I'm sure that had more to do with the director than the actor, but what a rotten flick.

I also saw that one as a kid. I also read the junior novelization before seei.g the movie. I was mostly hyped up by the commercials for the licensed toys that came with the Taco Bell kids' meals.

It just seems readily apparent to me that seeing a Godzilla movie today would be lame, and that I would either have to be swayed by a good review first, or come in expecting it to be bad (like coming in for a remake of 1995 or so's Independence Day). Heck, I grimace through the vast majority of trailers before films, shaking my head at how stupid each one appears.

QuoteOn the plus side, it wasn't filthy like most movies these days. I'll take boring over filthy any day of the week.

I'm actually not convinced that Bryan Singer did what he's been accused of doing. Plus, did you see Captain America: The Winter Soldier yet? That was actually a good movie.

Medium is the message, fine, fine. It's not a movie.

I'm sure if I didn't grow up with Batman Forever, I would despise it too. Now, I merely revel in its awfulness.

One of the things that concerns me is Hugh Jackman's toplessness.
