168 Bishops in favour and 55 against. Pray. That's more than 75% of the US Catholic Bishops who wish to rebuke Biden.

From: https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-government-and-politics-religion-ea0179cd6c8eddbf66693a7e2b28e2da

"U.S. Catholic bishops overwhelmingly approved the drafting of a “teaching document” that many of them hope will rebuke Catholic politicians, including President Joe Biden, for receiving Communion despite their support for abortion rights.

The decision, vehemently opposed by a minority of bishops, came despite appeals from the Vatican for a more cautious and collegial approach to the divisive issue. And it raises questions of how closely the bishops will be able to cooperate with the Biden administration on issues such as immigration and racial injustice.

The result of the vote — 168 in favor and 55 against — was announced Friday near the end of a three-day meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops that was held virtually. The bishops had cast their votes privately on Thursday after several hours of impassioned debate.

Supporters of the measure said a strong rebuke of Biden is needed because of his recent actions protecting and expanding abortion access, while opponents warned that such action would portray the bishops as a partisan force during a time of bitter political divisions across the country.

As a result of the vote, the USCCB’s doctrine committee will draft a statement on the meaning of Communion in the life of the church that will be submitted for consideration at a future meeting, probably an in-person gathering in November. To be formally adopted, the document would need support of two-thirds of the bishops."

Abortion is the greatest ongoing holocaust of our time. 2 billion innocent children have been killed worldwide. I'm very thankful the US Catholic Bishops have made an initial vote in favour of a strong pro-life stance. The ideal is Biden repents and becomes pro-life himself.

I was reading this article on "Lifesite News" and its pretty dissappointing; there is not going to be any "condemnation" of anybody or restriction of anything read it yourselves: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/day-2-of-us-bishops-meeting-dominated-by-eucharistic-debate-parties-form-based-on-doctrine
The last paragraph tells you what is going to happen:
Quote
However, Cardinal Cupich once again weighed in with objections, asking that the focus on how a “set category of Catholics” might be unworthy to receive the Eucharist, should be removed entirely and replaced with a more general outlook. Cupich revealed that he would not be supporting the proposed document, given its current draft outline, and that his support would only come if the section on Eucharistic consistency and named individuals were removed.

San Diego’s dissident Bishop Robert McElroy supported Cupich in opposing the document, arguing the current proposed draft presents “the groundwork for a fundamental shift in the conception of how bishops should present our faith in public discussion,” which would turn the Eucharist into a “tool” in the political divide. It would be impossible to prevent the “weaponization of the Eucharist in partisan battles,” warned McElroy.

Claiming that such a proposed document was motivated by a focus on abortion and euthanasia, McElroy declared that such a focus would “fatally undermine the ability of the Church in the U.S., to witness to Her ability to the integrity of Catholic social teaching, including the Church’s condemnation of racism, poverty, and environmental destruction.”
There it is; abortion, perversion, heresy, teaching the Catholic faith, are not what the U.S. Bishops hold as important, it is "racism, poverty and the enviroment".
The Conference is pretty evenly divided between "Conservatives" and Progressives; with the latter holding a small edge; so any real tightening (read application of Catholic principles) of the rules to receive Communion will be defeated.

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." I expect something nuanced with words like 'profound concern' and 'accompaniment,' their go to word.

I’m suprised - listening to people like Michael Voris it would seem like the bishops are bought and paid for by the world

Good thing if they refuse to dance to the democrat pipe

They are, but so is Voris. They're all wolves in sheep's clothing. Don't be fooled by these gestures: it's all smoke and mirrors.
The first condition of salvation is to keep the norm of the true faith and in no way to deviate from the established doctrine of the Fathers. For it is impossible that the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, who said, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church,” [Matthew 16:18], should not be verified. And their truth has been proved by the course of history, for in the Apostolic See the Catholic religion has always been kept unsullied. - The Formula of St. Hormisdas

Hi Ex Cathedra

What's Voris doing wrong? I know people dislike him for hiding his sinful past, and some people disagree with him for doctrinal reasons (Sedevacantist, as an example), but I don't want to assume your reasons because you know what they say about people assuming

Voris is a public heretic that accepts Vatican II and all the whirlwind of heresies of the Conciliar religion.

I can’t really blame you for your lack of trusts in the Bishops - Biden, as soon as it became apparent he supported abortion should have been denied communion by every priest, and if some priest didn’t deny him the bishops should’ve disciplined the priest

That this didn’t happen tells of a lack in faith concerning the church doctrines

I don't like him because of his constant attacks on the SSPX; not for doctrinal reasons,  but trying to paint them falsely as protectors of Child molesters, and digging up scandals from the past.

Yes, and while doing so, they should refer to Catholic teaching about the 9 ways of cooperating with or being an accessory to another's sin. Accompaniment indeed.

To me, using ad-hominems as a legitimate argument to discredit the substance of another's position automatically demonstrates that a person is not intellectually honest and should not be trusted. At that point, he is either incredibly ignorant or has some ulterior motives.

I think ad-hominems are a useful rhetorical tool as long as it's used to attack the manner in which a person speaks, or the ad-hominem itself is directly related to the substance of the content itself (for example, pointing out AOC is "dating" a 6'2" white dude despite how evil and patriarchal and oppressive straight white men are). However, when you try to demonstrate the falseness of a claim by using an unrelated claim on the person's character, that's another story (you covered up child abuse, therefore the SSPX can't possibly be right).

Now while excommunication and similar disciplines by the church are done with the hope that the one being dealt with will repent, it's wise to make use of them even if it's certain the person wont repent to - just to make clear from the teaching church (pope, bishops) to the listening church (priests, laymen) that whatever public sins the person is guilty of are dangerous for one's soul

With that said, are there any famous historical cases where an excommunicant - especially a public person like a politician - did repent after being excommunicated by the church?
