Hubby and a friend go to a fly in (kind of like a car show or a bike rally, but with airplanes) in Nebraska and low and behold, what do they come home with?  A powered paraglider.  Thankfully it's mostly his friend's, but still...  Also thankfully, they know they are going to have to teach me to fly it as well.     They didn't get any good pictures of it, so the ones below are just samples to give you an idea of what it is.

This gives you an idea of the frame and motor

When you find out the secret to confession, please give the "for dummies" version  ;D.  Seriously, though, you really racked up there!  Our priest highly recommends the one you got on preparation for death.  He suggested it as a good Lenten read.  Is the one on purgatory by Fr. Faber?  I recently got that one in a hard copy from the All the Saints online bookstore for a couple bucks.  They were closing shop and getting rid of inventory.  I've only read a little, but its really good so far.

LausTibiChriste

Yeah, I couldn't say no to a deal like that...especially for spiritual reading.

And I have a funny feeling I'll be trying to figure out the secret to confession until I'm dead   ;D

And yes, the Purgatory book is the one by Fr. Faber :)

I've wanted one of these for years, but the harness version instead. I figure if motor quits, at least I have a chute. I can pull out the husband card on many things, but I don't think wife would stand for this. lol.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Motor quits and you have a chute: Home in time for dinner
Motor quits and you have wings:   Enjoy the glide, suppers in the fridge
Motor quits and you're in a helo:    Hope you have good life insurance

Yes, I'm inclined to think that if we had children, it would be a whole different ballgame.  As an aside, they say that with the trikes and quads, you can wear a parachute.  You just have to make sure you've cleared the chute attached to the main body before you deploy the one on your back.
