There are often meaningful images one comes across that don't belong on the Catholic Memes thread, which was started for the purpose, "Because sometimes you need a good laugh." Instead, these other images tell us something that might be heartening, cautionary, inspiring, or instructive. Let's make this a thread of images honoring all of the Christian virtues. (Wherever possible, please also credit sources, even if these are not primary ones.)
Nisi Dominus custodierit civitatem, frustra vigilat qui custodit eam (Psalm 126:2).
Benedicite, montes et colles, Domino: benedicite universa germinantia in terra, Domino (Daniel 3:75-76).
Put not your trust in princes: In the children of men, in whom there is no salvation (Psalm 145:2-3).

(With credit to clau clau for posting this on another thread.)

Fantastic drawing that reflects authentic Catholic spirituality.

Doesn't quite match the idea about the majority of humankind being saved, though.
"For there are no works of power, dearly-beloved, without the trials of temptations, there is no faith without proof, no contest without a foe, no victory without conflict. This life of ours is in the midst of snares, in the midst of battles; if we do not wish to be deceived, we must watch: if we want to overcome, we must fight." - St. Leo the Great

Quote"Death blowing bubbles," 18th century. The bubbles symbolize life's fragility. This plaster work appears on the ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey, Bamberg, Germany. After the monastery's dissolution in 1803, the buildings were used as the city's hospital.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Greg

I guess the above picture explains why the Church was against theatre in the past. It was the media of its day and probably where bad ideas and bad influences spread from influencers to the masses influenced.  Today people are brainwashed by newspapers and TV and social media but back then it was theatre I guess.

We think of theatre as old Shakespeare plays and The Mousetrap but of course those are the higher quality plays from the past.  The degenerate stuff mostly did not survive.
Contentment is knowing that you're right. Happiness is knowing that someone else is wrong.

Meaning that the impact of visual imagery functions by stealth and thus (if one allows it to) easily overrides the message of the Church? (Fr. Ripperger says so in Dominion.) Much of opera too -- despite its more gilded reputation -- is pretty tawdry once the plot lines get taken apart and examined more critically.
