I saw the first episode of Turn, a drama on AMC about a spy ring during the American Revolutionary War. I enjoyed it, though not everyone will.

Why is that?

A lot of reviewers have been complaining about how, hmm, conventional it is; evil redcoats, virtuous rural patriots, that sort of thing. I think that a.) we've been spoiled by modern television and expect serious shows to all have the grittiness of Breaking Bad or the lavish costume and set budget of Game of Thrones/the size of George R.R. Martin's waistline. And b.) the show might be considered boring to those who aren't already interested in American Revolutionary War history because of its pace and subject matter.

Is it clean?

Archer: the pilot had no nudity and relatively light gore/onscreen violence for a war drama.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Yes, I've seen a couple of them.  It seemed to be much more intense than the America one.  Very interesting.

I've continued watching Turn, and can say now, 5 episodes in, that this is probably the best series running on television right now. Started slow, but it's gotten better with every episode. As an additional note, while I'm certainly not proclaiming it as a fount of historic accuracy, this show also features the most realistic and believeable portrayal of General Washington I've ever seen. Our portraits have an unfortunate habit of rendering him as a passive, distant, or grandfatherly/geriatric old man. Turn's Washington is undoubtedly a warrior, a stern disciplinarian when needed, and has the bearing of an aristocrat.

The original Iron Chef is the best. The American version doesn't even come close.

I love Chopped, too.

You need to watch Sleepy Hollow. Completely different type of show, but lots of fun. Turn records every week on my parents' DVR but I just haven't gotten to it yet. Maybe I do less laundry than I used to?
