¨Twenty former presidents of Latin American nations sent an open letter on Jan. 5 to Pope Francis in which they criticized his call for "harmony" in socialist Venezuela and "reconciliation" in Nicaragua where Marxist governments have ruined these countries' national economies and subjected citizens to torture and summary executions.¨

Venzuela sold out to Goldman Sachs (oil) around the time that military officer Oscar Perez went rogue. He and his men were located and taken out around the same time not to difficult to
ascertain deals were made. Shortly afterwards the News was showing boxes called ¨Clap¨ being dropped to some Venzuelans. They sure do have a demonic sense of humor.
Putin the Great kept a stiff arm to Maduro it seems until recently when Maduro went to Moscow. Putin never really trusted Maduro but at least the Russians are sending food
to Venz. At this late stage I don´t think even Putin the Great can save him or his team since they spent years doing everything wrong. Sure Russia sent up a base but it is needed to
try to land cargos of planes full of food. Venz. needs lots of prayers hopefully Putin can stop the freefall and remove Maduro without violence.

Venezuelans are cattle living in a feudal system.  If you remove Maduro, another socialist/fascist will take over.  I don't think it is possible to fix that country.  You'd need a Catholic revival, and then a Pinochet to come in and take out most of the left and put in free market programs.  Since the formal organization known as the Catholic Church is now an insignificant gay-rights / moslem rights NGO, I don't see that happening until after the reset.

There's a reason we don't see caravans coming up from Chile.  Pinochet took care of the problem.

I don't think it was oil, because Goldman is not that stupid.  I believe they grabbed the gold.  Maduro got a loan to buy more rice and beans for the masses.  Of course that money is now long gone, and so is the gold.

The oil (and their production keeps declining) is already pledged for the loans Maduro squandered from China.  IF they ever get production going again, China gets the oil.

I'm mystified some trads have such sophisticated, intricate knowledge of geopolitics.  I get lost in the cigar smoke during these kinds of discussions.

Re the OP, this just goes to show it does not fall under the duties of the Vicar of Christ to himself get so intricately involved in influencing geopolitics.  It as if these leaders are saying "mind your own business."

The regime is obsessed with paying its bondholders, cutting food imports for starving citizens to service its Wall Street debt. But Goldman jumped at a chance to triple its money.

Fact: Sanctions by US- either Goldman Sachs did a bait and switch buying time till Venz. economy swirlls the drain and buy the Hunger Bonds for peanuts or they pretended to abide by the Sanctions but never really left.

Come on guys, who doesn´t think Greg is ChrisTulsa and James03 along with a host of others.

Often I wondered in amazement how in 50 years after Henry 8th left the Church that Brits would be fighting with Islam at the Battle of Lepanto against Christendom ...ah I don´t have to wonder anymore.
