There's been a back and forth going on, but it seems John mentioned an ex-Catholic priest turned orthodox priest from the 1800s named Réné-Francois Guettée, who wrote a piece that was supposed to argue against Catholicism, "The Papacy: Its Historic Origin and Primitive Relations with the Eastern Churches" which can be found online here: https://archive.org/details/papacyitshistor01guetgoog/page/n9

The title alone is enough to prevent me from reading the article. Adolescent, puerile, vulgar. No one who writes a title like that is capable of doing reliable historical research that can be trusted to be honest and objective.

The title should have been enough to prevent me. Alas, I did. Will we ever reach a point where we accept that all the same arguments have been had for centuries, and very little changes? The schism can only be healed by divine intervention.
