Scroll down to Unique Units and you'll find several Papal guard units.  My favorite is the Papal Bombard, I wonder if it pummels modernists lol.  And true to real life, the Swiss guard speaks German.

I can't get into AoE III for some reason. Always played it as a kid on my parents' pc but when I bought it on steam a year ago the game was so different I refunded it and never looked back.

I also played the original version when it first came out; the updated DLC's were a real shocker to me as well.  The new civs can have downright confusing playstyles and are just plain quirky sometimes.  I'm still playing the original civs, but explore the new ones on occasion.
