Scotland are much better off in the Union.  Independent they would have about as much relevance and political clout in the world as Estonia.

They'll just become another vassal state of the EU, like Ireland.  Fat lot of good Irish independence has done them over the last 100 years.  Has not made them keep the faith, nor keep their island free of abortion or kept them out of debt.

While the English colonised the entire world, with incredible economic success and political guile the Scots could not even colonise Panama.  Why seek independence from a neighbouring country that as senior partners in the union are very reasonable compared to say Spain or Belgium or even Russia.

If Scotland turned itself into Norway, fair enough, but it never would.  It would just be a midge infested, rain and fog covered land to the north of England.

Her Majesty‘s Royal Armed Forces would certainly lose some piped officers.
