Title: Anybody interested in doing a devotion for November for the Holy Souls?
Post by: diaduit on October 20, 2020, 04:31:27 AM
I've been thinking lately that if SHTF our best army is in Heaven or Purgatory.

I've been in situations before where I need help in a dramatic way (nothing sinister) and I've had a sudden thought to call the all the Holy Souls I've ever prayed for to help me and the response was swift and positive.

Lets build our army in Heaven to help us through the next couple of months or years.

Would anyone suggest a particular prayer, De profundis being the most obvious.  Would it be good to do one small offering per day to coincide with this devotion.  Mine could be no internet before noon (my biggest browsing time is morning before the kids get up).  Keep them small but consistent.

Anyone interested?

Prayer of Resignation in Death

"My most sweet Jesus, I accept the death Thou has destined for me; with all the pains that may accompany it; I unite it to Thy death, I offer it to Thee. Thou hast died for love of me; I will die for love of Thee and to please Thee."

Delivery, I've found a similar offering in For. Lasance's prayers for Mass. There are some really good ones in there.

Suggestions , other suggestions welcome.

BEFORE NOON

Intention:  The morning prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, that once they enter Heaven they join our Devine Army under direction from Christ the King and the Queen of Heaven to protect us during the current reign of evil.

As we are praying for souls in purgatory I suggest St Gertrude (without making a claim for 1000 souls released each time it is said, it is still a worthy prayer for suffering souls and for conversion of those whom we love in our family)

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

IN AFTERNOON

Intention:  That no authority however legitimate! separate Catholic families but that we all die whenever God calls us good and holy deaths.

Prayer of Resignation in Death

"My most sweet Jesus, I accept the death Thou has destined for me; with all the pains that may accompany it; I unite it to Thy death, I offer it to Thee. Thou hast died for love of me; I will die for love of Thee and to please Thee."

In the evening, maybe as part of the Rosary

Intention: To defeat the current reign of evil and restore the world's rulers and peoples as loving subjects of Christ the King.
PRAYER TO OUR QUEEN OF VICTORIES

O Mary, merciful Refuge of Sinners and Mother of all mankind! Behold how many souls are lost every hour! Behold how countless millions of those who live in India, in China, and in barbarous regions do not yet know Our Lord Jesus Christ! See, too, how many others are far from the bosom of Mother Church which is Catholic, Apostolic, and Roman! O Mary ... life of our hearts ... let not the Precious Blood and fruits of Redemption be lost for so many souls!

Grant that a ray of Heavenly light may shine forth to enlighten those many blinded understandings and to enkindle so many cold hearts. Intercede with thy Divine Son, and obtain grace for all pagans, Jews, heretics, and schismatics in the whole world to receive supernatural light and to enter with joy into the bosom of the true Church. Hear the confident prayer of the Supreme Pontiff that all nations may be united in one faith, that they may know and love Jesus Christ, the blessed fruit of thy womb ... And then all men shall love thee also, thou who art the salvation of the world, arbiter and dispenser of the treasures of God . . . And, glorifying thee, O Queen of Victories, who, by means of thy Rosary, dost trample upon all heresies, they shall acknowledge that thou givest life to all nations, since there must be a fulfilment of the prophecy: "All generations shall call me blessed." Amen.

Hopefully the cemeteries won't be closed down as COVID risk. Near me, there's an old c. 15th century church and some old graves in and around alongside the modern cemetery.

In addition to the above suggestions we can also add the names of our deceased loved ones to the Holy Souls Registry at America Needs Fatima.

All names listed will be included in:

1)  30-day November Novena of Masses (30 Holy Sacrifices of the Mass)

2) They will also be prayed for throughout the year by the America Needs Fatima family.

I would be but Xavier assured me WW3 happened this month.  So what is the point?

There is only 24 hours left according to his nutty priest friend.

What a ridiculous excuse for the laziness of not participating. I already explained what Fr. Michel said in the relevant thread. The signs are clear that the Warning is near. That much is fairly certain.

Weasel words.  Come on, tell us when the warning is.

Name the month and year.

An Intercessory Prayer of the Church Militant
for the Church Suffering in Purgatory.

"It is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins (2 Mach. xii. 46)."

Ye souls of the faithful! who sleep in the Lord;
But as yet are shut out, from your final reward!
Oh! would I could lend you, assistance to fly;
From your prison below, to your palace on high.

O Father of mercies! Thine anger withhold;
These works of Thy hand in Thy mercy behold;
Too oft from Thy path, they have wandered aside:
But Thee, their Creator, they never denied.

O tender Redeemer! Their misery see;
Deliver the souls that were ransomed by Thee;
Behold how they love Thee, despite of their pain:
Restore them, restore them to favour again.

O Spirit of grace! O Consoler divine!
See how for Thy presence they longingly pine;
Ah, then, to enliven their sadness, descend;
And fill them with peace, and with joy in the end.

O Mother of mercy! Dear soother in grief!
Lend thou to their torments a balmy relief;
Temper the rigour of justice severe;
And soften their flames with a pitying tear.

All ye who would honour the Saints and their Head,
Remember, remember, to pray for the dead;
And they, in return, from their misery freed,
To you will be friends in the hour of need.

Prayer for the Poor Souls  :pray3:

My God! I recommend to Thee the souls of my relations, my benefactors, my friends,

and my enemies, and of those who are in purgatory on my account. I recommend to

Thee the souls of evangelical laborers, of Religious and priests, and especially of those

who had charge of my soul. I recommend to Thee the souls of those who were most

devout to the passion of Our Lord, to the Blessed Sacrament, to the Sacred Heart of

Jesus, and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the souls who are most abandoned, those who

suffer most, and those who are nearest to the entrance into paradise.

Eternal rest give to them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

And may the divine assistance always remain with us and bring us to life everlasting.

Amen.

Litany of the Dead

Lord have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us.
Christ have mercy on us.
Christ have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us.
Jesus, receive our prayers.
Lord Jesus, grant our petitions.
 :pray2:

O God the Father, Creator of the world,
Have mercy on the souls of the faithful departed.

O God the Son, Redeemer of mankind,
Deliver the souls of the faithful departed,

O God the Holy Ghost, perfector of the elect,
Acomplish the bliss of the faithful departed.

Blessed Virgin Mary, who, by the special privilege of grace, wast triumphantly assumed into the Kingdom of Thy Son,
Pray for the souls of the faithful departed. *

Blessed Angels, who, ordering aright the first act of your will, were fixed forthwith in unchangeable happiness, *

Blessed Patriarchs, who were filled with joy when the Desired of Nations put an end to your captivity, *

Blessed Prophets, who, after patiently awaiting the arrival of the Messias, were at length consoled by a visit from Him in person, *

Blessed Saints, who, at the glorious Resurrection of Our Saviour, were translated from Limbo to the visible Presence of God, *

Blessed Apostles, who at the last day shall sit to judge the twelve tribes of Israel, *

Blessed Disciples of Our Lord, who followed His steps in the paths of perfection, *

Blessed Martyrs, who passed through the sea of your own blood, entering immediately into the Land of Promise, *

Blessed Confessors, who despised the vanity of the earth, and placed your affections on the joys of heaven, *

Blessed Virgins, who, with your lighted lamps, awaited the coming of the heavenly Spouse, *

O Holy Saints, who, being freed from all irregular attachment to creatures, were perfectly fitted for immediate union with your Creator, *

Be merciful, O Lord, and pardon their sins.
Be merciful, O Lord, and hear their prayers.

From the shades of death, where the light of Thy countenance shineth not,
Deliver them, O Lord. **

From the evils to which immortification in this world must expose them in the other, **

From Thy displeasure, provoked by negligence and ingratitude, **

From the pains of purgatory, so justly inflicted upon unexpiated sins, **

From the torments incomparably greater than the bitterest anguish of this life, **

By the multitude of Thy mercies, ever compassionate to human frailties, **

By the virtue of Thy Cross, whereon Thou reconciledst the world to Thy Father, **

By Thy victorious descent into hell, to break the chains of death, **

By Thy glorious Resurrection from the tomb, to open the Kingdom of Heaven, **

By Thy triumphant Ascension into heaven, to lead captivity captive, **

By Thy dread coming to judge the world, **

We sinners: Beseech Thee to hear us.

That it please Thee to hasten the day when Thy faithful shall be delivered from the mansions of sorrow,
We beseech Thee to hear us. ***

Litany of the Dead Part 2

Kyrie Eleison
Kyrie Eleison

Christe Eleison
Christe Eleison

That it please Thee to hasten the day when Thy faithful shall be delivered from the mansions of sorrow,

We beseech Thee to hear us. *** :pray3:

That it please Thee to shorten the time of their expiation, and to admit them speedily into Thy heavenly sanctuary, ***

That it please Thee, through the prayers and good works performed in Thy Church, to receive them into Thy eternal tabernacles, ***

That it please Thee to accept, in atonement for their sins, the infinite value of Thy unbloody Sacrifice, ***

That the blessed view of Jesus may comfort them, and His unfading glory shine upon them, ***

That the whole Church Triumphant may soon celebrate their deliverance; and the choirs of angels sing new hymns of Joy, on their never ending happiness, ***

That we ourselves may share in their triumph, and unite with all the citizens of heaven in eternal alleluias, ***

Son of God: We beseech Thee to hear us. :pray2:

Lamb of God, Who shalt come with glory to judge the living and the dead:
Give rest to the souls of the faithful departed.

Lamb of God, at Whose Presence the heavens and the earth shall be moved:
Give rest to the souls of the faithful departed.

Lamb of God, in Whose book of life the names of Thy elect are inscribed:
Give rest to the souls of the faithful departed.

Antiphon: Deliver us, O Lord, from eternal death, in that tremendous day when the heavens and the earth shall be moved, whilst Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire. We tremble and are sore afraid at the discussion which shall take place, and at Thy future wrath, when the heavens shall be moved, and the earth, when Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire. That day is a day of wrath, of calamity, of misery: a great and most bitter day: when Thou shalt come to judge the world by fire.

V. Give them, O Lord, eternal rest:
R. And let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen. :pray3:

Let us pray.

Grant to Thy servants departed, O Lord, we beseech Thee, Thy mercy, that they who prayed that Thy will be done, may not receive punishments for their misdeeds but that, even as here below the true faith united them to the ranks of the faithful, so in heaven by Thy mercy they may have fellowship with the choirs of angels.

Through Christ Our Lord. R. Amen. :pray2: :pray3:

May Our Blessed Lord have MERCY on our loved ones & the Holy Souls in Purgatory! :pray3: :pray3:
