Wishing everyone a happy Cinco de Mayo!

I'll be celebrating later with fajitas and margaritas. :)

Oh,  I give in.  Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I have been to Puebla. Neat place.

Funny how Cinco de Mayo is a big thing in the U.S.
The royal feast was done; the King
Sought some new sport to banish care,
And to his jester cried: "Sir Fool,
Kneel now, and make for us a prayer!"

The jester doffed his cap and bells,
And stood the mocking court before;
They could not see the bitter smile
Behind the painted grin he wore.

He bowed his head, and bent his knee
Upon the Monarch's silken stool;
His pleading voice arose: "O Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!"

It took on a significance here totally different from the one it has in Mexico.

I hope everyone celebrated Cinco de Cuatro yesterday?

According to my Mexican mother, Cinco de Mayo isn't really celebrated down there.   Perhaps some things have changed in the years gone by, but I guess it wasn't back when she lived there.

That's a great song. I'd prefer to celebrate with señoritas and margaritas, though.

It's the same here. My family has never celebrate it, save those who will drink whenever an opportunity arises.

So is everybody Mexican on Cinco de Mayo like everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day?
?
I adore Thee O Christ, and I bless Thee, because by Thy holy cross Thou hast redeemed the world!

With a name like Hector I keep hoping you're Hispanic. Yeah, I know. The Tamer of Horses was a Trojan. But still... :lol:

It still isn't. It's celebrated more in Texas than in any other place I've lived.

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
    It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
    It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
    And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
    And wears man's smudge and shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.

And for all this, nature is never spent;
    There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
    Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs —
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
    World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
