water and sewag bill: up 75%. Frau H said gals at work reporting same.
Here in the north, ours is about the same. But it is  controlled by the city, if that makes a difference?

I have no idea. Interesting.

Sewage and water hike sounds like your locality got hit with a bunch of environmental regs.  Biden got elected, it has consequences.

Crude and products inventories built + 6MM bbls for the week.  Week-to-week data is highly erratic, but going off the data, the US is in balance and can cut off from the SPR emergency oil.  Shows a continuing recession (gasoline and diesel built) plus further increases in supply from shale and the Guyana elephant field, as well as the ongoing supply swap Russia->India and Mid East-> Europe has been accomplished.  Here's the API data:

QuoteAPI

Crude +1.035mm

Cushing +510k

Gasoline +3.225mm

Distillates +1.538mm

If this keeps up WTI will be in the 70's.  The Fed will raise a few more times and then the recession will be getting very noticeable.  Housing taking a good whack now.

Cars and homes will be on sale early 2023.  Good for younger adults.  Lock in home heating oil contracts before the November election, but prices are going lower for now.

The nationalization is not as bad as it looks, but is more of a symptom.  Russia has (3) refineries in Germany.  Because of sanctions they can't get spare parts.  It's probably a good assumption that the equipment in the German refineries are of Former West origin.  So Germany has placed ownership into a German Trust, thereby making them "German", so sanctions no longer apply.  After the sanctions are lifted, ownership reverts back to Russia.

I'm assuming the Trust will also hold the profits from the refinery and those will go to Russia after the war.

QuoteGermany To Nationalize Struggling Uniper In Deepening Energy Crisis

Germany on Wednesday announced a move to nationalize struggling natural gas supplier Uniper SE as it strives to keep the industry functioning in the wake of a global energy crisis, according to Reuters.

Uniper is Germany's largest importer of Russian NatGas and has suffered tremendous losses after Russian energy giant Gazprom slashed Nord Stream 1's pipeline capacity to zero, forcing the utility to purchase natgas outside contracts on the open market at record high prices.

Germany going down for the count. Without Russian natgas Germany is going to descend into chaos this winter.

They should have listened to the Orange Man. But alas Orange Man baaaaad.

Fed hiked as expected.  New range is 3-3.25%.  Means a bad recession.  2-yr Treasury took out 4%.  I like to use that as a rough estimate of future Fed government usury payments.  If we use a conservative $30 TRILLION in Fed debt, that's $1.2 Trillion in interest expense a year or so out (the cheap debt has to roll off).  And Fed debt will be close to $50 TRILLION by end of decade.  The government is bankrupt.  The question is when it admits it.  I think we have a few years.  Powell will stop the inflation, so that extends the time a little bit.

In the meantime, dollar will go higher as the US is the one-eyed king in a blind kingdom.  The EU is a goner.  They can't compete with the Fed and the winter implosion hasn't even hit yet.  Expect the pain to begin there.

Here's a webpage on the US debt.

Glenn is hard to listen to sometimes. He is usually first on a lot of news, but sometimes turns into a protestant preacher. I cannot, for the life of me, understand with all his research, how he became Mormon and left the Catholic Church.

I haven't listened to him in years. Is he hammering the culture war and denouncing with full prejudice those who promote the moral rot in society? Does he chastise porn, sportball society, tell yard work Sunday folk to repent, cast off the old man? Does he identify fraudulent conservatives(republicans) by name, excoriate their deep foundations as globalists and jew lackeys? If he routinely expostulates on these topics, I might give him a listen. Has he ever apologized for his "Free Trade" and Gulf War propaganda?

For the most part, yes. The Jew question, absolutely not.

"Some things are in our control and others not. Things in our control are opinion, pursuit, desire, aversion, and, in a word, whatever are our own actions. Things not in our control are body, property, reputation, command, and, in one word, whatever are not our actions. The things in our control are by nature free, unrestrained, unhindered; but those not in our control are weak, slavish, restrained, belonging to others. Remember, then, that if you suppose that things which are slavish by nature are also free, and that what belongs to others is your own, then you will be hindered. You will lament, you will be disturbed, and you will find fault both with gods and men. But if you suppose that only to be your own which is your own, and what belongs to others such as it really is, then no one will ever compel you or restrain you. Further, you will find fault with no one or accuse no one. You will do nothing against your will. No one will hurt you, you will have no enemies, and you will not be harmed."

The least departure from Tradition leads to a scorning of every dogma of the Faith.
St. Photios the Great, Encyclical to the Eastern Patriarchs

CANON I: As for all persons who dare to violate the definition of the holy and great Synod convened in Nicaea in the presence of Eusebeia, the consort of the most God-beloved Emperor Constantine, concerning the holy festival of the soterial Pascha, we decree that they be excluded from Communion and be outcasts from the Church if they persist more captiously in objecting to the decisions that have been made as most fitting in regard thereto; and let these things be said with reference to laymen. But if any of the person occupying prominent positions in the Church, such as a Bishop, or a Presbyter, or a Deacon, after the adoption of this definition, should dare to insist upon having his own way, to the perversion of the laity, and to the disturbance of the church, and upon celebrating Pascha along with the Jews, the holy Synod has hence judged that person to be an alien to the Church, on the ground that he has not only become guilty of sin by himself, but has also been the cause of corruption and perversion among the multitude. Accordingly, it not only deposes such persons from the liturgy, but also those who dare to commune with them after their deposition. Moreover, those who have been deposed are to be deprived of the external honor too of which the holy Canon and God's priesthood have partaken.
