QuotePretty funny, but I don't know if it's a good thing that I know these songs....

Think of it as mental battle scars.

That's a good way to think about it. Somehow, by God's great grace, we all survived the misfortune that is growing up in the NO with enough of a shred of Faith to discover tradition.

That's a beautiful thought -- worthy of a spin off thread, perhaps.

That's a good point. All of us made it in spite of the NO, in very different circumstances.

Somebody actually parodied these songs:

I know this was a parody, but I only made it to 1:17 before I had to turn it off!  UGH.  What horrible music and memories.

What is funny is that I used to love the stuff and think chant was boring when I first became Catholic.  Now it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to even hear 10 seconds of that banal, horrible music.

LOL

I laughed.  Hard.

My computer doesn't even like these horrible hymns.  My flash player crashed twice.   :D

This is what my NO used to sing during the Agnus Dei:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Please, Lyubov, tell me you're kidding about the Rod Stewart song. Please.

Nope. They don't do the whole song, just the first verse, and then they sing the English words of the Agnus Dei instead of the chorus.

That's vomit-worthy.

Oh the horror. These atrocious songs resurrect the  many displeasing memories of the Novus Ordo.

Just kidding. I try to not remember the bad hymns. I like being able to go back.  :)
