Many of you who are familiar with diets to correct health issues, etc, probably know about "detoxing" and the side effects it can cause.  I just found this today, and the phenomenon actually has a name, and thought I'd share.

I think that has really a name, but the way it was used in the articles that you posted appears to be justification of the chemical reaction of the body towards the medicine.

In my case, I am more interested to know about authopagy than that, in relation to detoxification in situations of resorting to dietary intervention in order to obtain health. I think detoxificaton without resorting to medication is a better strategy.

Interesting Drummer...I am doing a borax and Diatomaceous cleanse at the moment, 2nd time round and the herx is way less than before.

I never heard of that one before, interesting.  I recently started taking Lugol's iodine solution, and experienced moderate side effects, that are still wearing off.  It's amazing how much garbage is just stuck sitting around the body. The iodine will be effective for cleansing out the chlorine and fluoride from city tap water, which otherwise is really good for my municipality.
