Do you realise what you are wearing? The spiritual threats of popular symbols

These days, evil is ingrained deeply in many spheres of life, which is why we, the people of Christ, must be aware what we are wearing and getting involved with, due to a great spiritual threat.

  • ''No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.'' (Mt 6:24)
  • ''You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and also the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.'' (1 Cor. 10:21)

The above texts say clearly, that a Christian cannot serve both, God and the Devil, at the same time.
Something that was dedicated to the Devil from the beginning cannot be dedicated to God - at least without serious consequences! This also involves the symbols we wear as jewellery.

The Atlantis Ring

Many people - sometimes unknowingly - wear this unusual ring on the finger. It is quite wide, made of metal, silver or gold, with geometric shapes carved. The sign engraved on the ring consists of three elongated rectangles. On both sides of the rectangles, on their
extension, there are three smaller rectangles and three isosceles triangles that close the entire composition.

The History of this ring dates back to approx. 1860. A mysterious ring called Atlantis, made of stoneware, was found in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings by Royal Egyptologist, Marquis d'Agrain. Because the ring did not fit the Egyptian tradition, it began to be attributed
the Atlantean civilization, the supposed ancestors of the Egyptians.

What does it mean according to esoterics and dowsers?

The ring is supposed to provide the owner with invulnerability that is difficult to explain and protect against invisible aggression from the outside. Another feature of the ring is supposed to be its ability to heal and immunise stress and fatigue. The third feature of the ring is an expanding function - the ring has the supposed ability to strengthen intuition, develop paranormal abilities, stimulate telepathy and clairvoyance.

The question that comes up is: how can an ordinary object, the invention of a man, be so powerful?

The Atlantean Ring is one of the elements widely distributed today in the world of New Age ideas that reach out to esoteric, occult and
satanic methods of expression. This ring is one of the ways evil works - enslavement and turning away from Jesus, the only Healer and
Defender of Humans.

The Atlantis Ring is well known to exorcists. It became popular when people started to get involved with various forms of occultism, which led to their enslavement by evil spirits. In a case of a 19-year old girl who never parted with her Atlantis Ring, one would be clearly convinced about the degree of the demon's reign over her. For her spiritual liberation, she did a lot: go to confession, renounced occultic practices and even accepted the Holy Communion. But when she was asked to take the ring off, she hid her hands behind her back, protesting loudly, screaming and pulling unnatural faces. She is being horribly tormented by the devil, and currently resides in a mental institution.

''Peace symbol'' - the Cross of Nero (broken cross, hen foot etc.)

Since the Hippie times, the above is universally recognised as the "peace sign", the symbol of pacifism. An inverted cross
in a wheel is worn in the form of pendants, bracelets or earrings. It is also printed on T-shirts.

But what does it really mean?

This symbol can found for example among characters of Runic writing, used in Northern Europe in the first centuries after Christ.

In the Runic writing, a symbol with horizontal parts directed high up, symbolises a human. An inverted one can be read as denial of humanity.

This symbol is propagated by American hippies along with the slogan "make love, not war!" As a symbol of pacifism, peace and nuclear disarmament.

1. This symbol is equated with an inverted cross that expresses
the fall of Christianity.
2. It was placed by the Nazi SS on death notices and tombstones as a reference to Pagan black magic.
3. In the 1960s, it became permanently associated with the Hippie Movement, a revolution that proclaims the rebellion of young people against the world of adults and its institutions, including the Catholic Church.
4. In Satanism, it functions as one of the symbols used during black masses.

Correlation with Satanism

The founder of the contemporary Church of Satan, Anton LaVey, used the same symbol as a decoration of the altar's back, explaining that the alleged symbol of "peace" was the favourite symbol of Satanists for centuries. LaVey saw in it a broken and upside down cross,
which was supposed to be the symbol of Christianity's final defeat. Peace, but without God!

The Pacific sign worn by young idealists expresses their belief that wars are wrong. But it is worth for them to know, that they are a Satanic symbol and that they should make a decision on behalf of their own conscience as to whether a Christian can wear symbols of Satanic worship or not. And it is not relevant, whether it is used as a symbol of Pacifists or Satanist.

Yin Yang

The concept of Yin and Yang comes from Chinese philosophy and in the Far-Eastern understanding of metaphysics, means the balance between opposing forces governing human life.
They are therefore the unity of:
- elements (fire and water),
- sexes (male and female),
- seasons (spring and autumn),
- times of the day (day and night),
- but also basic values - good and bad.

Ying-Yang is the key symbol of New Age in which the opposing forces (God and Lucifer) for the sake of one, supreme spirituality, are ruled out. Its action is to go beyond all divisions, a sphere in which everything reigns united.

In Christianity, there is no equality between God and the Devil. Jesus says clearly:
''I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.'' (Lk. 10:18) and ''Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.'' (Jn. 12:31)

Equating the Devil's power with God's is a violation of a basic Divine truth: There is only one God, and also an idolatrous violation of the first commandment: ''Thou shalt have no other Gods before me''.

The Pentagram

The word ''Pentagram'' comes from the Greek language, in which ''pente'' means 5, and gamma ''a letter''. So the Pentagram refers to a five-pointed star or any shape consisting of five lines.  In its history, the symbol appears among others in Pagan religions, antiquity, with among the Israelites, Christians and many others. Currently, it is one of the most common symbols used in protective magic in the witchcraft of Satanists.

History

The oldest pentagram was found in the ancient city of Ur - the centre of civilization of Mesopotamia and is dated (according to
researchers) to 3500 BC. It was probably used as a royal seal.

The Pagans believed that this sign came from a Goddess widely worshiped areas covering the area from England to as far as Egypt. They called her Kore. Apple was thought of as the sacred symbol of Kore. When you cut its equator (exactly half), you can see an almost perfect pentagram, with a seed in every of its 5 points.

The Pythagoreans, among others, took interest in it. They recognized it as a symbol of perfection because they found gold proportions in it, and during times when they had to hide, they used it as a hallmark. The Celts thought it was a sign of the Goddess Underground - the Morrigan.

In Satanism there is an inverted pentagram on which a goat's head is often inscribed, which means the Satan or demon Baphomet and at the same time, is an offensive reference to Jesus Christ as a scapegoat. The pentagram is often used in black and white magic practices and celebration of ''black Mass''. It can also be found on the cards of Tarot and in the Satanic Bible. It reflects the superiority of human instincts over reason and intellect.

The Pentagram is widely used today in many aspects of everyday life, especially in entertainment (video games, internet, rock and
metal bands, anti-Catholic literature). Many people do not realize that the use (more or less consciously) of this symbol, opens one to a different spirituality, which is contrary to Christian spirituality.  Wearing a pentagram is therefore a gate that opens one to the demonic world.

The Ankh

This amulet, because of its shape, is sometimes confused with a cross, a sign of the saving passion of Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, the sign of the Ankh is derived from the Ancient Egyptian culture, where as a hieroglyph, it meant life, fertility and reincarnation. It symbolizes the Egyptian god Ra, who required adoration in the form of sexual orgies.

Nowadays, it symbolizes sexual promiscuity, contempt for virginity and the ability to choose a partner solely at your own discretion. Thus it is a reference to ancient paganism in which sexual orgies and different types of deviations were practiced on a daily basis.

The Celtic Cross

This is a four-armed cross placed in a circle. It derives from Pagan beliefs as an attribute of God Odin (Wodan).

The horizontal arms of the sign symbolise an immaterial world and vertical arms the physical world. This symbol means compliance with the universe, the way to another world, the bridge to another world. The shoulder-based circle is a symbol of unity, harmony and
completeness. The Celtic cross has some resemblance to Yin Yang, the Taoist symbol.

It is currently used by neopagan and nationalist circles (as a symbol of resistance). Skinheads use it in place of the socially unacceptable Swastika.

The "Christianised" form of the Celtic cross (High Cross) with the extended lower arm is often confused by Catholics with a Latin (Christian) cross - The shape of this symbol was adopted by Christians living in the British Isles and can often be seen in the graveyards of Ireland.

The Cross of Mayhem (the Satanic Cross)

A symbol that came about already in Antiquity, the purpose of which was expressing disregard for Christianity and challenging the Divinity of God. It quickly became used by Satanists.

It is quickly interpreted in two ways. In the first meaning, the unfinished circle in the centre means that Christianity is to end in a mixing up and muddle. In the second, one can see a cross connected to a question mark (''?'').

Thus, this symbol expresses doubt in the Truth, doubt in God's might. All of it should be translated to the following: ''Did Jesus really die for our sins?''

The roots of this statement can be found in a known Biblical scene:
''Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden?'' (Gen 3:1)

The Southern Cross (Inverted)

A symbol that rejects and mocks the Cross of Christ. The Lord's Cross is mocked in a classical way: being flipped upside down.

Through this, Satanists reject Christ and his saving blood. The origin of this Cross is probably Pagan. However, Satanists borrowed it in the eighteenth century from HellFire-Club, scornful of any moral principles. This symbol is often worn by Satanists. It can also be seen on the necks of some rock musicians (eg. Madonna, Mick Jagger) and on heavy metal album covers.

The mark of the beast

In Biblical numerology, a number symbolising imperfection, in contrast to number 777, which can be translated as: ''Holy, Holy, Holy''.

The Satanists referred to number 666 in the words of the Apocalypse (see Rev 13:18: This calls for wisdom: let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. Its number is six hundred and sixty-six.).

The Eye of Horus

It is one of the most effective protective symbols, applied in ancient Egyptian arts of healing and of protective energy. The person wearing this amulet is supposed to achieve just benefits, since it is supposed to be reflecting the so-called evil eye. It is protecting
from envy, jealousy, imprecation. It is rejecting the bad energy sent by other people...

This is the commercial way of showing this amulet.

However, one should remember that this amulet has other meaning. This symbol has an Egyptian origin. It was painted on mummies and tombs. It was supposed to be the eyes through which a departed soul is watching the world. They also thought that reincarnation is done by it. The Horus eye was also a symbol of power and knowledge.

In our times this symbol refers to Lucifer - the King of Hell. The eye is half-shut, which suggests that the Satan isn't watching, though it is the other way around. Under the eye, we see a tear, because the Satan is crying over those he has no watch over.

''Broken S'' - a lightning

This symbol has its roots in the mysticism of the East. It probably meant power and might. With time, it was taken over by occultists and skinheads - it represents a ''destroyer'' and represents the power of the Satan.

In the Bible lightning means the Satan (Lk. 10:18): ''He said to them, 'I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.''

It was used by Nazi death squads (SS) and some rock bands (KISS, AC/DC).

Summary

From the point of view of the Catholic faith, attributing Divine power to Amulets, and worshipping not God the Creator, but objects, is a sin of idolatry, and an offence against the first commandment. The Bible teaches:
''No one shall be found among you who makes a son or daughter pass through fire, or who practises divination, or is a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer, or one who casts spells, or who consults ghosts or spirits, or who seeks oracles from the dead. For whoever does these things is abhorrent to the Lord; it is because of such abhorrent practices that the Lord your God is driving them out before you.'' (Deut. 18:10-12)

''You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.'' (Exod. 20:23)

Exorcists warn!!!

Wearing Talismans and Amulets, even unconsciously, may lead to demonic oppression. It can be expressed through depression, nightmares, prayer difficulties or lack of motivation for faithful deeds.

Engaging in any forms of occultism and using amulets may result in the development of the so-called paranormal abilities. This, in turn, brings evil oppression and leads to enslavement and demonic oppression. That's why it is right to destroy all talismans and statues depicting pagan deities and discourage practices that have an occultic dimension.

What protects us from demonic possession:

Regular confession

Full participation in Mass

Daily prayer or Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Reading the Bible daily

IOW, prioritize breaking the Sixth Commandment over [possibly breaking] the Fifth Commandment -- except that one may be breaking both the Sixth and the Fourth Commandments if the war in question is a just military action against an aggressor.

I now want to accept and to carry this little cross joyfully, to carry it silently, with a smile in my heart and on my lips, in union with the Cross of Christ. With all due respect, this is quite ridiculous.

Modern Catholics stand much more to lose by getting caught up and taking sides in the occultist Left Hand/Right Hand path dialectic.

This isn't even touching on the fact that the hexagram is conspicuously omitted, and the Petrine Cross is portrayed as a demonic symbol --something pretty much every Catholic should know is false.

Why pick a fight with the celtic cross when you have all the subject matter of the baroque and gothic before you?  The celtic cross is an example of pagan cultural accident being transferred over and applied to Christianity in a harmless manner when such a culture or society converts from paganism to Christianity.  It is something that the church has I believe explicitly endorsed.  And, it can be a vehicle to aid in the acceptance of Christianity by the populace.
For the stone shall cry out of the wall; and the timber that is between the joints of the building, shall answer.  Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and prepareth a city by iniquity. - Habacuc 2,11-12

What a crock.

Symbols have no inherent power.   To believe that they do is superstitious.  The PO is, effectively, promoting superstition.

The power, such as it is, of a symbol is in its effect on the intellect (and, following that, the will) of the one who uses or observes the symbol.  So, we wear a cross, we know what it signifies, and we intend that signification.  This is good.  If one were to choose the so-called peace symbol (a broken, inverted, cross) believing that it symbolises peace and nothing else then that would also be objectively good.  The fact that the designer of the symbol had bad intentions does not make the wearing of it by the ignorant Christian an evil, nor can it cause him any harm.  It's not a sacrament.  It does not effect what it signifies.

And the "Divine Mercy" cult is, in my opinion, merely a device of the Devil to divert people from the Sacred Heart.

I tend to agree with the most recent replies.

As to the Chaplet, one thing that bothered me -- and still bothers me -- about the JP2 "era" in the Church, his initiatives, and his adherents -- was the contrived attempt to be "new and different," to pile on unnecessarily in order to (artificially) "leave a legacy."  It's just my impression, but it seems to have manifest in many areas -- from devotions like that one, to convoluted theological explanations that clumsily elaborated on clearer traditional ones, to ambitious and frequent global travel plans while largely ignoring the starving mission territory known as the United States of America.

May or may not be the sly work of the Devil detouring around The Sacred Heart.  May just be another example of "adding"/piling on.  Jesus Christ does not contradict Himself; not possible.  I'm not saying that Faustina did not experience private revelation; merely that whatever it was could not have contradicted the earlier message to St. Margaret Mary and probably did not add significantly to it.

Correct.  It didn't in itself signify "Make Love, Not War."  Hedonistic indulgence was a separate theme of the Hippie movement.  The peace symbol originated during the earlier disarmament movement.

Quote
The internationally recognized peace symbol – variously known as the nuclear disarmament symbol, the CND symbol and the peace sign – was designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement by Gerald Holtom. Holtom, an artist and designer, presented it to the Direct Action Committee on 21 February 1958 where it was "immediately accepted" as a symbol for a march from Trafalgar Square, London, to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire on 4 April. Holtom's design was adapted by Eric Austen (1922–1999) to ceramic lapel badges. The original design is in the Peace Museum in Bradford, England.

The symbol is a combination of the semaphore signals for the letters "N" and "D", standing for "nuclear disarmament".  In semaphore the letter "N" is formed by a person holding two flags in an inverted "V", and the letter "D" is formed by holding one flag pointed straight up and the other pointed straight down. Superimposing these two signs forms the shape of the centre of the peace symbol.

Holtom later wrote to Hugh Brock, editor of Peace News, explaining the genesis of his idea:

"I was in despair. Deep despair. I drew myself: the representative of an individual in despair, with hands palm outstretched outwards and downwards in the manner of Goya's peasant before the firing squad. I formalised the drawing into a line and put a circle round it."

This is something that was more or less addressed in the 4th century. As Christianity became the dominant religion the dynamic between new Christian culture and the older pagan culture became an issue. Were Christians permitted to take part in New Years and other holidays? The position essentially became that such things are harmless vestiges of older culture. A famous example of Christian appropriation of Pagan symbols is the 4th century codex calendar which was commissioned for a wealthy Roman Christian. It over flows with pagan symbols and images and was clearly see as harmless.

Regarding symbols and such, there may be an "energy" associated with them. Practioners of chaos magick invent sigils that uniquely represent their intention to manifest a change in this world. Phil Hine claims that sigils bear their originators intent even if shared amongst others. We live in a complex univers

I can't speak for the other things, but as we've discussed here before, the Divine Mercy was very popular, had imprimaturs, in the 1940s. It is a very traditional Devotion and Catholic Poland has benefited from it to this day. There were some temporary issues owing mainly to translation (a similar thing happened to Ven. Mary of Agreda's priceless work, Mystical City of God, at first, before full Church approval and encouragement came) and finally full Church approval was reiterated for the Divine Mercy. https://www.suscipedomine.com/forum/index.php?topic=20249.0

"The Divine Mercy devotion is an extremely powerful God-inspired devotion to make reparation, for our sins and those of the world, through the Passion of Christ, and His holy Body and Precious Blood. Some traditionalists oppose it, believing it (1) promises mercy without asking reparation and/or (2) does not require pagans and heretics to convert, beside other doubts and objections. I don't intend to answer every possible doubt, especially because that's been done on another thread, but a brief study will show these objections are mistaken. For e.g. on Day 8, Our Lord Jesus says, "Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice."  showing He is asking precisely for reparation, and the offering of prayers, sacrifices and indulgences.

As to the second objection, Our Lord's original words for Day 5 were "Today bring to Me the Souls of heretics and schismatics and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."  Ewtn says this was changed for ecumenical reasons, because it didn't sound nice to modern ears. Here, we see, in its original form, its a very traditional devotion. See "Our Lord's original words here were "heretics and schismatics," since He spoke to Saint Faustina within the context of her times. " https://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/mercy/novena.htm

Finally, St. Maria Faustina was a victim soul, who died at age 33, like Our Lord and many traditional Saints; not a coincidence this holy bride of Christ is called Maria either, like many other saintly souls the Mother of God has seen fit providentially to favor with Her own most sweet name; the devotion was extremely popular in Catholic Poland even in the 40s and 50s, when it received many imprimaturs. In 1959, mainly because of a translation issue (we recall even saintly Maria of Agreda's work was once questioned for similar reasons), there was a disciplinary decree against it; but that was very soon overturned. The devotion has been helpful for Catholic Poland to this day.

Wiki: "Before her death Faustina predicted that "there will be a war, a terrible, terrible war" and asked the nuns to pray for Poland. In 1939, a year after Faustina's death when Archbishop Ja?brzykowski noticed that her predictions about the war had taken place, he allowed public access to the Divine Mercy image which resulted in large crowds that led to the spread of the Divine Mercy devotion.[34] The Divine Mercy devotion became a source of strength and inspiration for many people in Poland. By 1941 the devotion had reached the United States and millions of copies of Divine Mercy prayer cards were printed and distributed worldwide.[33]"
