I'm looking for some games to play to relax distract myself
I'm thinking puzzles word games, if it's aesthetically pleasing that's even better.. I loved monument valley but played that a lot
I still have words with friends installed if you have that. PM me for my username on there.
Yonder is like an open world RPG with farming etc -- think Breath of the Wild's open world, with the graphics we all wish Maple Story had, but no combat.
I spy with my little eye. :) 8)
There is monument valley 2. But maybe you knew that.
I'm more impulsive about loading apps onto my kindle than I am about playing games, but I did download monument valley after reading your post and looking into it. I have only a handful of games, all rarely played, but this one sounds beautiful.
One result from google (as if you couldn't do that...):

WWF 2?
Solitaire. I'm hooked on Solitaire. Trick is not to just clear the stack but to do so in the fewest of possible moves, that way you have a relaxing game (there are no machine guns or jump scares in solitaire, at least not the version I play on my phone) but then at the same time enough brain engagement, plotting out which cards to move and which cards not to, so you don't feel like you are just shutting off your brain, drooling as you move cards from point a to point b.
I'd go with Solitaire, with that goal in mind. Try to beat my record, 93 moves!
Uh, other relaxing puzzle games, this one is pretty good http://www.coolmath-games.com/0-bloxorz

My favorite is spider solitaire.
If you enjoy computer programming then codefights.com is a fun site. You used to be able to challenge other players one-on-one, but I think they removed that feature :( But it still has plenty of single-player challenges, and tournaments too.
I also liked the Professor Layton series for the Nintendo DS/3DS. If you're not familiar with that, it's basically a ton of puzzle mini-games, and then the main game has got aesthetics and an interesting story (sort of a mystery/drama). I don't know how many Professor Layton games have been released at this point... I played the first 4 or 5 of them but haven't played any of the newer ones.
It's difficult to find games that aren't monetized now, almost requiring you to spend money to advance a level after you've been playing it for a while, but there is a Mah Jong game which is not monetized. I have that on my iPad. I'll find the developer/company name tonight.
This may not be helpful to you because the game is very old and obsolete. But the most relaxing game I used to play was Harvest Moon for the SNES. You can play it on computers now if you have an emulator. The point of the game is running a farm, planting vegetables and taking care of cows and chickens. It was very relaxing to watch the vegetables grow and feed the chickens. Then you go to town and try to get one of the local village girls to marry you. When I played the game I married the girl with pink hair. It was very relaxing. I also thought Animal Crossing was very relaxing as well. But my knowledge of games is very out of date because I haven't played many games in many years.
Final Fantasy IX.
Relaxing atmosphere and setting, not too difficult, charming plot/characters.
It's available on multiple platforms now.
Oh and Chess. But for me it's only relaxing if I'm playing against the computer. I'm a sore loser.
But if you do play Ches, then I challenge you to a game!

After approx. 8500 games I just now got an 87!
*Total # of games is skewed due to sw reset.
I've tried, but I can't seem to beat you, Serviam. My best is holding at 88. :(

That was a gauntlet gently placed on the ground, Serviam style, Philomena :P
Oh, I understood that, Per. :) What do you think I've been doing for the past three weeks?
85, Serviam! 85. 8)
I'm mildly very extremely annoyed now.
I don't play games much, and the following aren't exactly puzzle games, but definitely Animal Crossing would count. The PSX and GCN Harvest Moons are awesome.
I find most retro games that aren't button mashers or platformers to be extremely relaxing. Especially if you get an old cathode-ray television to play them on, on a rainy day.
My go-to game for relaxing is American Truck Simulator. I like driving as it is, so after a night at work it's nice to come home and have a beer while listening to some country music while hauling freight from Washington to Arizona.

For a good relaxing game, I've gotta say I've been impressed with Forza Horizon 5
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KmXUnRz57w
1. This game is rather demanding on the hardware, so if you plan to play it on PC, it will need to be a decent PC to get the most out of it.
2. It's expensive, but when on special and if you have the hardware for it, then it's a good buy IMO.
3. It can be addictive/unhealthy if one gets sucked into certain 'missions' and trying to collect every single car etc, however if you ignore that part, then it's a rather satisfying free roam driving game that can be quite enjoyable without sucking you into anything.
4. It does have "The Message" in regards to hints toward aztec paganism and pronouns etc, but this can rather easily be completely ignored and the game still enjoyed to the full without it IMO. Don't know what future turns it may take, but for the most part it's decent IMO.
But anyway, for a good video game that one can enjoy in moderation it gets a tick from me. It's just important to be aware of the traps in regards to certain time limited missions/items thus pressuring you to play it more than you want to and in regards to "the message" that is occasionally tried to sneak in, but for the most part can be entirely ignored.
God Bless
Grim Dawn is my go to for a relaxing game. It's a great ARPG, probably one of the best ever. Somewhat steep learning curve but the near endless replay ability; with the dual-class system and staggering amount of items is amazing. If you like good loot then this is your game! The best thing is you can pick any weapon, skill, or class theme and it will work with proper build planning. Great atmosphere and music, along with decent lore makes for an engaging experience, even when levelling multiple times. I probably honestly play more than I should, but an hour every night after work and family time isn't too bad I think.
Most relaxing computer game ever? In my opinion, Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Why? Because it's a simulation which allows you to take it at your own pace and sometimes just sit back and watch the trains and stuff travel. There's no stress of constantly moving (like a FPS), figuring out puzzles (RPGs often), or madly clicking buttons (RTS) and you can often leave it running and go do something else.
Of course, the real reason is that you could put train tracks across the opponents' roads, do some deconstruction of the the roads, trap the vehicles near the train crossings, sit back and wait for the inevitable collision which results in a nice, satisfying fireball of the competition's road fleet. Nothing more relaxing than delicious destruction, right?
It's a real time sink though so I uninstalled it about four years ago and haven't loaded it since.

Dominion was finally ported to mobile.
Are you talking about the board game Dominion? That's a fun game.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, and its in the play store, now.
I've never played dominion but am interested.
How do you play on mobile? Is it a good experience?
You can buy the expansion sets, or just play with the free Dominion set. I recommend that, for you. I bought Intrigue, Alchemy, Prosperity, and Hinterlands, along with those expansions' "promo cards," which were originally in the expansions, back when I played like 10 years ago, but have been removed so they can be sold separately. Anyway, you play by dealing so many cards on the table, building a library from those cards, all with the goal of amassing victory points. Victory points come from your "land" cards. You want to read the cards on the table, look for synergies, and remember you win by having the most victory points. You can play vs computer or online.

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up.
I had to burn a stump out so my wife and I played war outside for a few hours watching the fire. Very enjoyable, felt like we were cowboys (and cowgirls, for the wife).
Any tycoon is relaxing. There is whatever you want: amusement parks, train stations, hospitals, university campuses, video game developers, etc.
Also building games, such as Caesar series, Imperivm Civitas, Tropico, Sim City, etc.
Finally sandbox to live and do what you want without pressure: Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon...
How much time can you spend per day on games, video games, card games, board games, etc., before it becomes a sin of some sort, such as wasting time, etc.

I think that depends on your circumstances in life. Married? Children? Single? They are your first responsibility before leisure. And your prayer life, if you have time for 3 hours gaming but only 20 minutes of prayer a day, time to reexamine priorities. Same for duties in life and acts of mercy
