Who was the Filipina First Lady who attended Our Lady of Victory?

Mrs. Estrada.  (Source: my wife, former parishioner at OLV parish, eye witness at her consecration :) )

Wow. Erap's wife.

Well, you married a Filipina, so I know you're taken care of!
I got my answer :)

WOW!   Didnt know there was a pic of the Filipino First Lady consecrating her office at the SSPX parish in Manila.

Another story (source: my wife hearing the story from Fr Couture I think):  the First Ladys husband the president, or maybe it was a different president, agreed to consecrate his office with the SSPX.  Fr showed up with a group at the presidential palace for the appointment, but the president didnt make the appointment and didnt re-schedule.

(I should update this list soon, mea culpa)

I remember the list on fisheaters was huge.  Right?  I'd go check it out but my old account is no longer accessible there.

Bumping this thread I started in 2015.  Made a list of positive, helpful information about the Society of St. Pius X.  Reminded of it today reading St. Justin's insightful thread on the Society (that its priests are no longer to be considered "suspended", interesting point).   The original list is still somewhere over at FE; it made it to something like 150 points.  That was 5 years ago.  Think of all the good work done since then by the Society with new growth.

1. The Archbishop's sister founded the Sisters of the Society of St. Pius X. Their mother was a stigmatist. Her confessor published a book about how he believed she was a saint.

2.  The Archbishop who founded the Society had extraordinary supernatural and even preternatural gifts. He was a very simple and humble man, almost dull at times, but it was because of his charity, orthodoxy, prudence, and tremendous insight on all things practical that drew people to him, whereby he ran and founded seminaries, engineered countless church structures, built up the missions in Africa, organized the International Coalition of Council Fathers (the most traditional bishops at Vatican II), founded the SSPX, etc, etc.

3. The wife of the president of the Philippines has attended Mass at the SSPX priory in Manila, where she consecrated her Office to the Immaculate Heart.

4. The Society encompasses not just the priests, but the sisters, brothers, and oblates around the world.

5. Two brothers (ie siblings, not religious brothers) rode their mountain bikes completely around the world, raising money for an SSPX orphanage in India.

6. The Angelus Press is one of the top publishers in the world of traditional Catholic books.

7. There are SSPX priests who teach the TLM in NO seminaries.

8. There are dioceses that have a positive working relationship with the local SSPX.

9. All the rosary bouquets presented to the Holy Father over the years.

10. The 2000 pilgrimage to Rome. Hundreds of priests and the Society bishops walked 2 by 2 into St Peters square to manifest their attachment to Rome.

11. The many SSPX retreat centers. An SSPX retreat, based on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, has helped many people grow in holiness, discern their state in life, prepare for marriage/confirmation/etc, etc.

12. SSPX priories/schools. Most priories have a school. Plus daily Mass, chanted Offices, strong parish communities. If you are looking to live near a traditional Catholic community with a school and daily Mass, and are willing to relocate, there are many to choose from.

13. One is St Mary's, Kansas. 3000 + parishioners/town residents, daily Masses, chanted Offices, many priests, brothers, and sisters.  K-12 school. Not coed. 4 year college. Classical liberal arts curriculum.

14. Many pilgrimages around the world. A big one in Bohol, Philippines, and Chartres, France. In US, annual pilgrimages in Missouri, New York, etc.

15. The priests are generally excellent confessors and spiritual directors.

16. The SSPX operates several nursing homes.

17. For many years there had been an an annual Young Adult Gathering in Denver, through which many marriages have come about.

18. There are countless examples of the priests having positive relationships with priests and laity of the FSSP, diocese, etc.

19. Bishop Manat of Thailand, and Bishop Lazo of the Philippines, gave great support to the SSPX, themselves returning to the TLM in part because of the SSPX.

20. www.sspxsingles.com   Not officially affiliated with the Society. My wife and I initially met on this free website.

21.  In France, surprinsingly the general populace has been hugely supportive of Archbishop Lefebvre and the Society of St. Pius X.

22.  There are many monasteries, convents, and traditional orders around the world attached to the SSPX.

23.  There are not a small number of prelates in the Vatican supportive of the SSPX, as well as many bishops around the world. The Society has a good relationship with many of these prelates.

24.  Some of the greatest missionary activity in the world, in particular in third world countries, is from the SSPX.

25.  This is especially evident throughout the Asian district, especially in the Philippines.

26. A convent of the Consoling Sisters of the Sacred Heart--religious order founded in Italy in 1961, now affiliated with the Society since 1996, dedicated to the Sacred Heart and Christian formation of girls.  http://fsspx.asia/en/consoling-sisters-sacred-heart-italy

27. A young lady named Swarna founded an orphanage in India, and after her conversion to Catholic Tradition, moved that orphanage to be near an SSPX priory in India.  She completed a noviate period with the Consoling Sisters in Europe, and as a new professed Sister, returned to India in 2008 to found a Consoling Sisters convent which now runs the same orphanage she founded.  http://fsspx.asia/en/consoling-sisters-sacred-heart-india

28.  Since then five Indian women have entered the religious life with the Consoling Sisters. (Links above)

29. 110 volunteers, many from Western countries, have lived and worked at the orphanage/school, which welcomes volunteers from all over the world to spend some time serving orphans.  These orphans are children, elderly, and invalids. (Links above)

30.  Most of the Sisters that have joined Swarna (Sr. Maria Immaculata) in this convent were former orphans she raised!  (Links above)

Favorite Pics of Their Convent Life:

35. Swarna (on far left in photo):  http://www.sspxasia.com/Images/Newsletters/2006_JulDec/Swarna_Vongala_with_helpers.jpg

36.  EWTN made a very positive video recently featuring a major pilgrimage in 2015 of the SSPX-affiliated Dominican teaching sisters of a convent/Mother House in Fanjeaux, France, taking the girls they teach, and a group totaling 1,300 traditional Catholics to Eternal Rome.  http://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2015/03/ewtn-video-on-sspx-related-dominican.html

37..  The event, planned for the last 3 years, was a pubic act of thanksgiving for the 40th anniversary of the founding of their congregation, and for their preservation of Catholic Tradition and the traditional Catholic Mass (link above)

38..  A Vatican bishop commented in the video with very positive words about the SSPX and ongoing SSPX-Vatican relations, saying "Their hearts are in Rome." (video in link above)

39..  The second Sister interviewed showed extraordinary simplicity and cheerfulness in the way she expressed her Catholic faith, and faith in Rome (same video).

40.  Here are photos of the pilgrimage:  http://sspx.org/en/media/photos/fanjeaux-dominicans-rome-pilgrimage-pics-6816

41.  My favorite photo is in the fourth row, third column.   Imagine if Pope Francis looked down on these traditional Catholic children showing their attachment to Rome and Catholic Tradition.  http://sspx.org/en/media/photos/fanjeaux-dominicans-rome-pilgrimage-pics-6816

42..  This Dominican congregation, founded in 1975, now has 200 nuns teaching children in 8 schools, in France, Germany, and 2 in the US (one is in Post Falls, Idaho)  http://www.sspxasia.com/Documents/Society_of_Saint_Pius_X/Vocations/Womens-Communities/Chap-8-Dominicans-Teaching-Sisters-of-Fanjeaux-P.htm

43.  The Vatican Ecclesia Dei commission offered to arrange a priest or bishop to offer the Mass of All Times for this pilgrimage (link above).

44.  Imo, this event/video is an excellent way to inform those who may be confused about people who attend the SSPX.  That the SSPX is Roman Catholic, INSIDE the Church.

45.  New traditional Dominican community, affiliated with the SSPX, was recently founded in Belgium.  See photos, info on the Dominican 3rd order, and a talk by Fr. Albert, O.P.  http://sspx.org/en/dominican-third-order.

(rest of list somewhere on FE)

Here's the rest (with a bit of overlap?)...

Quote
41.  SSPX sermons are great. The priests speak out on the errors of the new religion, but also keep polemics as something secondary to the spiritual life, liturgical year, etc.

42. It is very common for Society parishes to have potlucks after Mass each week.

43. The SSPX has been one of the main contributors to preserving the traditional Mass and theology, the freeing of the traditional Mass for all priests, and the traditional movement as a whole.

44. The consitutions for the Society written by Archbishop Lefebvre are very practical and wise, so much so that the FSSP constitutions are largely based on them.

45. By extension, Archbishop Ledebvre is the spiritual father of Fraternity priests, many of whom consider him their spiritual father in the priesthood and religious life.

46. Once our SSPX pastor in Tulsa led a group from our chapel to the inauguration of the new Catholic charities. We saw the FSSP pastor there. Immediately our priest kneeled and asked for the Fraternity priest's blessing, who then in turn knelt down and asked for the Society priest's blessing.

47. The SSPX has a very strong presence in France. Something like 100 priests, plus many affiliated traditional monasteries, convents, and religious orders.

48. One of these is the traditional Franciscan convent that has a lot of members, is a very large and beautiful complex, and the nuns there run a nursing home.  My wife spent a year there as a postulant.

49. The SSPX has a very strong presence in the Philippines with many chapels, three priories, a novitiate, and the House of Bethany. This is an international pre-postulant house for girls to live before going to the convent, run by SSPX oblate Sisters. My wife lived here waiting for her visa to try the convent in France.

50. The Society has an active apostolate within the "underground Church" in communist China. SSPX priests go in cognito into China dressed as lay men, and have networked with underground bishops and priests, giving them moral and material support, and training or retraining them in the TLM.
51. Bishop Fellay has been an excellent Superior General, strengthening unity in the Society, purging the Society of rigoristic attitudes on the part of a small number of people, strengthening the bonds between the Holy See, being the main petitioner for the freeing of the traditional Mass for all priests, ensuring that a future canonical agreement is firmly placed on the doctrinal level, ensuring doctrinal discussions with the Vatican as a voice of the doctrinal concerns of all traditional Catholics regarding Vatican II, etc. (the record of the 2 years if discussions is supposed to be released for all Catholics), etc.

52. The other two remaining bishops are very careful not to act in such a way to suggest to others they have ordinary jurisdiction to act like a diocesan bishop, but that they function as auxiliaries under the authority of their Superior General. Bishops Tissier, de Gallereta, and Fellay are very humble and charitable men, who have given their life to the work of restoring Tradition.

53. The many independent priests in the world affiliated with the Society receive spiritual and moral support from the Society, and vice versa. The priests visit one another, fill in for one another, help plan activities like pilgrimages together, go on retreat together.

54.  The Sisters of the Society of St Pius X in Winona, Minnesota have an excellent distance education catechism program for children and adults. The Sisters send lessons, grade assignments, give encouragement, etc.

55.  The Society has nuns and brothers, but also oblate sisters and brothers who wear a religious habit, live in a community, and assist the priests. This is a great option for someone who has ruled out marriage, but may not be eligible for seminary or convent, due to age, health reasons, etc.

56.  Society priests are well known for regularly giving very informative Conferences at their parish, on the Crisis in the Church, adult catechism, etc.

57.  Archbishop Lefebvre's father was a Catholic hero in the French resistance movement against the Nazis, motivated by his devotion to the Social Kingship of Christ. He died in a Nazi concentration camp.

58. The SSPX will send a priest thousands of miles by plane to offer Mass for even a tiny group of ten or less people.

59. The Society is greatly devoted to Our Lady of Fatima, and is one of the main petitioners for the pope and bishops to one day consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

60. For multiple years, pilgrims of the SSPX annual pilgrimage in Bohol, Philippines, when finally arriving at the end of the pilgrimage atop a hill with a shrine and tall statue of Our Lady of Fatima, each time while it is raining, suddenly the rain stopping, witness the Sun in the sky appear to fall to Earth and then return to its original position, just as was with the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.

61. Every SSPX chapel makes sure to have a picture of the current pope on the wall.

62. SSPX bishops' confirmation circuits. Regularly to every Society district. Making themselves available for conditional confirmations as well.

63. The engraving on Archbishop Lefebvre's tombstone. "I have transmitted what I received."

64. Archbishop Lefebvre's 1988 episcopal consecration sermon. A must see on youtube.

65. Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer. Close associate of the Archbishop and the SSPX. Preserved the TLM in his diocese until his retirement in the early 1980s.

66. Preservation of the priestly cassock or soutane.

67. Seminary studies and priestly life deeply rooted in St Thomas Aquinas. One of the main preservers of Thomism in the Church today.

68. Priory life. As a general rule, Society priests do not live alone but in a priory with several other priests, living a well structured religious life including daily chanting of the Office. On weekends, the priests drive and/or fly their chapel Mass circuits, as missionaries.

69. Post Falls, Idaho. Large church and school. Teaching Dominican sisters. Large trad community.

70. Orphanage in India. Founded by a young lady who, having come to Tradition and realizing she had a religious vocation, was encouraged by the Society to first become a nun in Europe and then return to India and found the orphanage and a convent. Several orphan girls have joined her convent.
71. Frequently Asked Questions/Articles sections on SSPX-US website, now archived.

72. Radio station in St Marys, KS. Religious and non-religious music and programs. Family stories. Mass, rosary. Etc. There has been talk they may go online.

73. Promotion of modest dress, specifically Pius X's Marian Code of Modesty.

74. Promotion of consecration to the Sacred Heart (with image) in the home.

75. Faithful to marriage traditions like the pre-marriage "Interogation" and "Publishing of the Bans of Marriage."

76. During pilgrimages, when being denied entrance into Catholic churches, priests will offer the Mass of All Times on the front steps or lawn.

77. Archbishop Lefebvre's/SSPX's policy on receiving Vatican II: accept all that is explicitly Catholic; seek clarity on what is ambiguous; withhold religious assent to certain non-dogmatic statements that appear to contradict pre-conciliar statements until those statements can by amended.

78. Calendars put out by Angelus Press. Beautiful art work. Traditional calendar with fasting/abstinence reminders.

79. SSPX priests visiting St Peters in Rome have been granted permission to say Mass there, and use the sacristy.

80. In the sanctuary, there is a Vatican flag and a flag of the country the chapel is in.

81. Kansas City district office trains NO priests in TLM, etc

83. 2009-2011 SSPX-Rome Doctrinal Discussions. Recorded. To be released.

84. Pope Benedicts praise of Archbishop Lefebvre as great man of church in meeting with Bishop Fellay.

85. Pope Benedicts positive attitudes and actions to the Society.

86. Promoter of Catholic Action and traditional principles of social and political action.

87. Outreach to traditional Catholic professionals, politicians, and business leaders who follow the Society's advise--ie traditional doctrine--on working for the Social Kingship of Christ. Several such organizations.

88. Angelus Press. And Angelus magazine. Angelus missal.

89. New to Tradition kit. Angelus press. I believe free for clergy.

90.  Many stories of positive experiences SSPX priests now have in airports or on planes, being approached by laity, celebrities, priests, and bishops.

91. St Thomas Becket parish video, Oregon--online. Very well done and uplifting.

92. SSPX Asia website. One of the most popular traditional Catholic websites. Online books, articles, list of links. Very interesting info and photos about the Asian district.

93. SSPX Missions to Typhoon Victims across the Philippines--providing food, clothing, and shelter. Fr Ghela is presently running a refugee camp. See SSPX Asia--Philippines website.

94. ACIM--international Catholic medical association--doing medical missions in Europe and the Philippines. Medical mission this January in Philippines after Typhoon disaster.

95. An SSPX priest flies to Alaska every month to offer the Mass of All Times.

96. Recently the Vatican approved a woman to enter an SSPX-affiliated convent as a novice in New Zealand.

97. Regularly, the Society contacts the Vatican regarding confessed sins, like abortion, which require Rome's approval for absolution, and Rome grants the faculty to absolve.

98. Disciples of the Cenacle Convent--affiliated with the Society--in Rome, Italy. Live a very simple life. Publish the SiSiNoNo periodical on modernism in the Church.

99. The Priestly Society of St Josephat. Affiliated with the Society. In Ukraine. Priests and seminarians. Traditional Ukrainian rite.

100. Promoter of the Legion of Mary apostolate. Strong in several countries. One of the best forms of Catholic Action.

101. Archbishop Lefebvre's 1988 Episcopal consecration ceremony sermon. The Holy Ghost siezed the Archbishop in a moment of holy zeal. A must see, on Youtube.

104. Bishop Fellay reported that 1000 priests from Germany requested the SSPX TLM training video for priests.

105. The Missionary Sisters of Jesus and Mary, a second order of SSPX-affiliated sisters whose mission it is to assist the Society priests. They work in "missionary territories" like Africa.

106. The St John Fisher Chapel in Tulsa Sunday potluck after every Mass.  The size of the potluck buffet is inversely proportional to the small size of our congregation.

107. When Society bishops in the past have visited the Vatican, they have been treated with great esteem as bishops.

108.  Several Cardinals and Bishops have expressed indebtedness to the late Archbishop Lefebvre.

109. There exists a distinct traditionalist society of priests in France, similar to the SSPX, but affiliated with the SSPX, that was founded in the 1970s with full approval.

110. Great objectivity, clarity, and consistency in their doctrinal positions on the New Mass, etc.

In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"
