July 18th, 2014 - Genesis, Natural Science, Dr. John Sanford & Genetics

Dear Friends of the Kolbe Center,

Pax Christi!
One of the saddest ironies of the theistic evolutionist's position in its most attractive form is that all that is attractive about his doctrine flows from the same child-like obedience of faith that he refuses to give to the first chapters of Genesis. For example, I was speaking to a Catholic natural scientist and to a priest who promote theistic evolution, both of whom mentioned their deep devotion to Fatima and their belief in the message that Our Lady delivered there. Both of them firmly believed in the objective reality of the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, including the virtually instantaneous drying of the drenched bodies, clothes, and ground under the feet of the 70,000 witnesses at the end of the Miracle.

Later, however, the natural scientist heaped scorn on anyone who would be foolish enough to believe in the literal historical truth of the Mosaic account of Noah's Ark and the Flood. He rattled off a litany of things in the Genesis record of the Flood that "couldn't be" true. The Ark couldn't house all of the different kinds of creatures. The eight members of Noah's family couldn't provide them with food and water. They couldn't handle the animal waste, etc. etc. The irony of the scientist's position came home to me and two of my scientist colleagues as we calculated the amount of heat that it would take to dry the water-soaked bodies, clothes, and ground under the feet of 70,000 people in the space of a few moments. It was obvious that the amount of heat required to accomplish this result so rapidly should have incinerated the entire crowd with all of their clothing! Yet our theistic evolutionist friends had no trouble believing in God's miraculous provision for the 70,000 witnesses at Fatima, while in practically the same breath heaping scorn on simpletons who believe in God's provision-miraculous or otherwise-for the passengers on Noah's Ark.

The same sort of internal contradiction runs through the whole apologetic of most theistic evolutionists. They firmly believe in the virginal conception of Our Lord in our Blessed Mother's womb; but they scoff at the creation of Adam from the "virgin earth." They believe that Jesus changed water into wine by His fiat at Cana; but they cannot believe that His fiat created the stars. They believe that He raised a four-day old corpse from the dead by His word; but they cannot believe that He brought forth Eve from Adam's side. The divine words and works that they do believe give life to their apologetic; but the divine words and works that they do not believe stand as a permanent rebuke to their efforts. Their selective acceptance of some but not all of God's words and works sows cognitive dissonance in the young people they teach, as they would like to believe in "the whole counsel of God" but their respect for their "teachers" often leads them to elevate the human wisdom of their teachers above the divine wisdom of the Teacher of teachers, the Eternal Word Himself.

Natural science cannot "prove" that what God revealed to Moses is true. But natural science can confirm that the world we observe harmonizes with Divine Revelation--and it can expose the flagrant contradictions between the order of nature that theistic evolution predicts and the actual state of things in the natural world. The sacred history of Genesis tells us that our first parents Adam and Eve were created in a state of physical and spiritual perfection and that the Original Sin made them and all of creation subject to a "bondage to decay." Since the first generations of mankind were descended from physically perfect--or nearly-perfect--parents, they were able to live seven, eight, or nine hundred years, until the build-up of harmful genetic mutations and the genetic bottleneck at the time of Noah's Flood degraded the human genome and drastically shortened the life-spans of the post-Flood patriarchs. Theistic evolutionism, on the other hand, tells us that the bodies of the first human beings evolved over more than 500 million years of mutation and natural selection, which produced all of the organs and systems of the human body incrementally.

The famous Cornell University plant geneticist Dr. John Sanford and his colleagues have now demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that the data obtained by cutting-edge genetics confirm the sacred history of Genesis as believed and taught by all of the Fathers, Doctors, Popes and Council Fathers in their authoritative teaching. He has also demonstrated that the same data completely refute the claims and predictions of theistic and atheistic believers in biological evolution. Please read Dr. Sanford's article on this topic here:

and share it with your family, friends, and acquaintances. If you master this information--which is not hard to do--you will have gained a powerful tool with which to strengthen or instill faith in the truth of the sacred history of Genesis, the foundation of the Holy Gospel.

Please keep the Kolbe Center in your prayers.
Yours in Christ through the Immaculata,
Hugh Owen
