Quote from: CatholicStudyAttempt on May 04, 2023, 01:32:41 PMHas anyone had a spiritual experience? What was it like.

Are you fishing for the FBI?

The FBI is good, admittingly they made a knee-jerk mistake putting traditional Catholics on a risk list because they are too quick to listen to groups that vilify anyone who isn't a democrat as "extremist".

To have courage for whatever comes in life - everything lies in that.

CaritasVeritate

I believe anyone who truly have a relationship with God would have abundance of spiritual experiences. Sometimes it's as simple as feelings or thoughts..

Blessed are those who plant trees under whose shade they will never sit.

The closer you get to life the better death will be; the closer you get to death the better life will be.

Fr. Alonso Rodriguez S.J., who was the director of novices of a Jesuit religious house in Spain in the 16th C. and the author of "The Practice of Christian Virtues and Perfection"; a famous book used in most of the novitiates of religious orders for centuries; explained that the normal state in the spiritual life is one of dryness. I don't know which author said this, maybe it was Saint Teresa,  who stated that in the spiritual life we should not be looking for consolations from God, but for the God of consolations. St. John of the Cross also stated in his book "Ascent of Mt. Carmel", that the way of perfection is through the stripping oneself of all attachment to consolations, visions etc. And seeking God in the way of naked faith.
"The World Must Conform to Our Lord and not He to it." Rev. Dennis Fahey CSSP

"My brothers, all of you, if you are condemned to see the triumph of evil, never applaud it. Never say to evil: you are good; to decadence: you are progess; to death: you are life. Sanctify yourselves in the times wherein God has placed you; bewail the evils and the disorders which God tolerates; oppose them with the energy of your works and your efforts, your life uncontaminated by error, free from being led astray, in such a way that having lived here below, united with the Spirit of the Lord, you will be admitted to be made but one with Him forever and ever: But he who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit." Cardinal Pie of Potiers

Amen.
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

I've seen this quote attributed to St. Teresa, but haven't found it in her writings yet.

Quote3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: God knoweth),  4 That he was caught up into paradise, and heard secret words, which it is not granted to man to utter.
"But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God (Jn 3:18)."

"All sorrow leads to the foot of the Cross.  Weep for your sins."

"Although He should kill me, I will trust in Him"
