Thank you Parresia for the wonderfully informative post. My basic concern, as you have addressed, is being inundated with NO teachings. I love the concept of the Third Order Dominicans, and love the teaching of Saint Dominic, but I could see how the Order could be corrupted through an acceptance of V2 and a lack education in the deeper aspects of Dominican teachings.

Happy to help.  If you are in the right place, it could be a great thing, but if not, you will likely be quite frustrated.  Many of the Friars in the Eastern and Western Province are more traditional, but the Southern Province is by and large a mess, and has been for a long time.  That is changing, but it will be some time before they see the vigor in the South that they are seeing in the other provinces.  Obviously, there are strong communities of sisters in the South (pretty much everyone knows about the Nashville Dominicans) so that is always another option, again, depending on where you live.

So, if you want to give me a general idea of where you live, I might be able to point you in the right direction, if there is one where you are.

I'm in a suburb just north of Atlanta, Ga. so I would be in the southern province (laydomsouth), there is a community in Atlanta, but I'm not sure what parish it's at.

Don't know anyone there.  Sorry.

:) that's okay, thanks for offering all the help that you have so far. I'll attempt to find a community associated with SSPX, as Rose suggested, and then reconsider the mainstream version if nothing else is available.

Might be worth looking into if Dominican Spirituality is what you are after.
