All, I am heading back to Germany in a couple of weeks. I was anticipating being able to stay with my former exchange family from like a millions years ago, but dat ain't working out. I went to Airbnb from a suggestion at work and all looked goot wit registration, but then they want you to affirm that you like fags and deviant lifestyles. BUUZZZZZ! Nope. If I have to take a hotel plunge, i.e about a G I will, but I would rather find a competitor that does not require one to affirm sin. I am looking online and have found competitors, but I am also seeking advice from trads.

Anyone know of a good home share service that will not expect you to sell your soul to satan?

Thanks!

Any chance you could reach out to other traddy German families?

I have used VRBO.com before with good success. I don't recall anything sinful in their terms and conditions at the time I used them.

Do you know any FSSP priests who know FSSP priests in the area?

It'd be a bit of a telephone game...

I'm not sure what they offer in Germany, but when I went to Rome, we used MonasteryStays to book a room at a convent owned by the Religious Teachers Filippini.

What a great idea!
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

"My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

It definitely was--we had a chapel right downstairs.  And I don't speak Italian so it's helpful to use a service like that to act as a "middle man" because I'd have a hard time finding and contacting religious orders.  But it might be more cost effective for someone like Heinrich to contact the religious orders in Germany directly, since language isn't an issue.  Benedictines are a good place to start since hospitality is part of their charism.

I've used MonasteryStays.com as well.  The reservation system worked fine, but just to warn you there is no guarantee that you are going to be edified by the monastic observance encountered and don't expect that it is going to be more thrifty than staying at a hotel.  My best experience was staying with some Eastern Catholic Nuns who actually kept some types of liturgical observance and had a beautiful chapel.  The funniest thing about it is that I asked if I could join them for dinner one night with my companions and I have always suspected that finding out we were americans was the reason why those European Eastern Nuns served hot dogs for dinner that night.

Alright! First, thank you all for the suggestions. Secondly, I was indeed able to secure lodging with my "family."

Prost!  :cheeseheadbeer:

What do Germans living in Germany say about how bad the immigrant situation is over there now?  I have seen a lot of complaints on YouTube but it is always hard to know how representative that is.
