Faith of our Fathers! (when we sing that in church, I have to hold myself myself back from belting it out)

Immaculate Mary.
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

    "My dear good people: Do what you have to do, When you're supposed to do it, The best way you can do it,   For the Love of God. Amen"

Dude! I was so gonna write Faith of Our Fathers!

Fr. Faber wrote it a few years after converting, so it's absolutely a fight song against the CoE.

I really love the Salve Regina chanted.
"If anyone does not wish to have Mary Immaculate for his Mother, he will not have Christ for his Brother." - St. Maximilian Kolbe

Basilios

Quote1. God of mercy and compassion,
look with pity upon me;
Father, let me call you Father,
'tis thy child returns to thee.

Jesus Lord, I ask for mercy;
let me not implore in vain:
all my sins I now detest them,
never will I sin again.

2. By my sins I have deserved
death and endless misery,
hell with all its pain and torments,
and for all eternity.

Jesus Lord...

3. By my sins I have abandon'd
right and claim to heaven above,
where the saints rejoice for ever,
in a boundless sea of love.

Jesus Lord...

4. See our Saviour, bleeding, dying,
on the cross of Calvary;
to that cross my sins have nail'd him,
yet he bleeds and dies for me.

Jesus Lord...

QuoteHymn to Our Mother of Perpetual Succour (Help)
Mary from Thy sacred image, With those eyes so sadly sweet,
Mother of Perpetual Succour See us kneeling at Thy feet.
In Thine arms Thy Child Thou bearest, Source of all Thy joy and woe;
What Thy bliss, how deep Thy sorrows, Mother, Thou Alone canst know.

On Thy face He is not gazing, Nor on us is turned His glance,
For His anxious look He fixes On the Cross, and reed and lance.
To Thy hand His hands are clinging, As a child would cling in fear;
Of that vision of the torment, Of His passion drawing near.

And for Him Thine eyes are pleading, While to us they look and cry,
"Sinners, see My Child, your Saviour, Who for love of you will die!"
Yes, we hear Thy words, sweet Mother But poor sinners we are weak;
At Thy feet Thy helpless children, Thy perpetual succour seek.

Succour us when stormy passions Sudden rise within the heart;
Quell the tempest, calm the billows, Peace secure to us impart.
Through this life of weary exile, Succour us in every need;
And when death shall come to free us, Succour us, ah, then indeed!

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: and a door round about my lips. Incline not my heart to evil words.

Since we just had the Feast of the a Sacred Heart, I've got to add To Jesus Heart All Burning. Sappy sweet, sure. I still like it. But...

Faith of Our Fathers is one of the tops for English hymns.

Parce Domine or Salve Regina for Latin.
"You shall seek me, and shall find me: when you shall seek me with all your heart." Jeremias 29:13

The Harlequin King

I'd say "me too", but that hymn in my case is more like "Faith of Their Fathers", lol.

What if it's the Faith of the Church Fathers? That's how I like to think about it.

I'll second "God of Mercy and Compassion" and any Marian hymn. The Marian hymns are definitely among my favorites. "Queen of the Holy Rosary" is an especially good one.

My favourite is Adoro Te Devote. This is the song that I want at my funeral, but I want the English words then, so more people will understand it.

1. Godhead here in hiding, whom I do adore,
Masked by these bare shadows, shape and nothing more,
See, Lord, at thy service low lies here a heart
Lost, all lost in wonder at the God thou art.

2. Seeing, touching, tasting are in thee deceived:
How says trusty hearing? that shall be believed;
What God's Son has told me, take for truth I do;
Truth himself speaks truly or there's nothing true.

3. On the cross thy godhead made no sign to men,
Here thy very manhood steals from human ken:
Both are my confession, both are my belief,
And I pray the prayer of the dying thief.

4. I am not like Thomas, wounds I cannot see,
But can plainly call thee Lord and God as he;
Let me to a deeper faith daily nearer move,
Daily make me harder hope and dearer love.

5. O thou our reminder of Christ crucified,
Living Bread, the life of us for whom he died,
Lend this life to me then: feed and feast my mind,
There be thou the sweetness man was meant to find.

6. Bring the tender tale true of the Pelican;
Bathe me, Jesu Lord, in what thy bosom ran---
Blood whereof a single drop has power to win
All the world forgiveness of its world of sin.

7. Jesu, whom I look at shrouded here below,
I beseech thee send me what I thirst for so,
Some day to gaze on thee face to face in light
And be blest for ever with thy glory's sight.
Amen.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

I was just going to add hymns used for Benediction, but verenaerin has beaten me to it with her first two.

I have always liked "let all mortal flesh keep silent".....

I sing my son" conditor alme siderum" to sleep.
"I am not much of a Crusader, that is for sure, but at least I am not a Mohamedist!"

I love this one as well. I believe it is one the the oldest hymns in the Church dating to the early 3rd Century from the Liturgy of St James.
"To our personal enemies, according to Christ's commandment, we must forgive everything; but with the enemies of God we cannot have peace!"- Archbishop Averky

"Life is a play in which for a short time one man represents a judge, another a general, and so on; after the play no further account is made of the dignity which each one had."- St John Chrysostom
