I'm curious about this. What do you do with your children in this regard?
My Lord and my God.

The Curt Jester

Feast days over birthdays, although most of ours are very close, so they can be celebrated together.
The royal feast was done; the King
Sought some new sport to banish care,
And to his jester cried: "Sir Fool,
Kneel now, and make for us a prayer!"

The jester doffed his cap and bells,
And stood the mocking court before;
They could not see the bitter smile
Behind the painted grin he wore.

He bowed his head, and bent his knee
Upon the Monarch's silken stool;
His pleading voice arose: "O Lord,
Be merciful to me, a fool!"

Both. Name days are very popular in this part of the world. Never knew it was a thing growing up in Canada.

Yes, I know. There's a chapter in War and Peace about two of the characters celebrating their name day.

Same, growing up it was always birthday presents and maybe a special cake or something for a feast day of a patron Saint.

I'm 66 yo and never heard of name days. Never once heard the term (until today).

I looked it up. Now I know.

My in-laws do both.  I never even heard of it till I met my wife.  I've read the name day is a big deal for the Byzantine Rites and takes precedence over birthdays
"My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit.  Holy Trinity, glory to You."
"All my hope I place in you, O Mother of God; guard me under your protection."
