The SSPX made the following announcement:
It is with great sadness that we report that His Lordship, Bishop Vitus Huonder, surrendered his soul to God on Easter Wednesday following a series of health problems that proved terminal.

Mgr. Bonnemain, the successor of Mgr. Hounder, and his auxiliary, both attended his funeral.
