As the title suggests, looking for help with a possible dying job I want to try

I've worked with fabric for many years but I've never tried dying any of it... (it seems like a really messy process and I just can't deal with messes)  ::)
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

I've dyed cloth in the past, with Rit dye.It was pretty easy.

So here's the project: I have this jacket https://www.lee.com/shop/mens-chore-coat-22024.html?merchCategory=LEE_MEN_CLOTHING_JACKETS&dwvar_22024_color=2202401

I also ordered it in the brown as a work/hunting jacket but decided the brown was much better for wearing out and about. I'd like to save money and dye the blue one some sort of olive/brown drab earth tone. Maybe a base of yellow and some brown?
