If we must have a wall, I want a wall big enough to keep out women and children, and no bigger. Without women and children, there is no illegal families. Illegals seeking work will not stay long or too well without family. And, healthy grown drug smuggling men will find a way over any sized wall.
But, honestly, I have my doubts about this whole wall thing. A wall is really not the solution. Walls don't just keep people out, they can serve to keep people in. I like the double fence idea with a road going between the two so we can apprehend. It is inexpensive and less permanent.
Walls are great.
One would not be stretching it to mark the birth of civilization with the construction of walled cities. Warren Carroll implies as much in his history of Christendom. Jericho comes to mind.
With the invention of gunpowder the western city lost one of its most beautiful architectural features: the wall.
Make no mistake, those walls served the purpose of keeping people out. Hence why they were no longer worth the effort to build once armies started building cannons.
But even without utility, one can admire the cultural value of a wall (visiting Carcassonne is on my list). I wish cities still had walls at least to look the part of a civilized locale. But with how sprawling cities are, perhaps a border wall is most practical.
Even if it isn't perfect at filtering out 100% of illegals, the wall is symbolic of a lot of things for a lot of people. For the good guys, it is a symbol of strength and resolve in the face of lawlessness, barbarism, and cultural decay.

Your intentions are good but liberals will immediately jump all over that as a second iteration of the separation of families. The illegals will not turn around for the sake of their families. They'll just (think they) have an even more compelling argument as to why Trump is evil.

2. Anchor babies.
3. Our asylum system.
4. Lack of e-verify.
5. Immigration Lottery.
6. B-1b work visas
None of these will be fixed because we lost the House.
Dems are fueled by hatred of Jesus Christ. You saw that with the Covington deal. They hate America and know that flooding the US with people from leftist sh!thole countries will destroy this country. Which is what they want.

If Dems thought that a wall would be ineffective, they wouldn't be having apoplexy about it; they would just yawn and laugh.
