Not to derail. But Ive been in construction a long time and I have a horribly vulgur tongue. And I wish I had bridled it early but alas such was not the case. I have been able to totally 99.99% (confessing the .1% right away if it happens)to avoid directly blasphemeing the Holy Name of Jesus, I have not reigned in the inevitable fbomb. On the other hand I am not blushed or unsettled if vulgur language is used by others unless it is a direct blashpeme or pornographic in nature. This leaves me accessable to many more people I think than if I was a language prude. Im really not sure how God views language sins overall. It seems an issue of culture and intent of the user. The scripture tells us Peter swore, not as a good thing, but only that he did. Scripture tells us Our Lord dined and held company with "sinners" so can we assume blue Language in our lords presence? I would say yes. In cohen films the bad language never seems gratuitous but as you said true...or true to the characters and context of the film. Tarantino has the same gift BUT he is also a profligate user of gratuitous language so therefore less appealing. (I love Tarantino movies when theve been edited for TV...other wise I am offended)
I also Loved the Sopranos series for its dialog but only on MAD TV LOL

Ps 135

For he was mindful of us in our affliction: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
And he redeemed us from our enemies: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who giveth food to all flesh: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the God of heaven: * for his mercy endureth for ever.
Give glory to the Lord of lords: * for his mercy endureth for ever.

Blaspheming is certainly a grave sin.  As for other sorts of swearing, I find it much less serious.  One should be quite careful in most company, but if you're sitting in a boat fishing and drinking some beers with your friends, I don't think some swearing is a big deal.  Maybe that's just the Irish in me.  I don't know.

If you use the words to be vulgar and crude then there's certainly a problem.  But if you use them merely for emphasis then they mean little.
IF I speak with the tongues of men, and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Colorful metaphors, if you will.

Not a movie, per se, but a television special concluded a few minutes ago.  It was titled The Song of Lunch, and starred Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson.  For what it was, it kept my interest.  I laughed more than ten times.  But it has made me thirsty for wine which I will not be able to acquire until Monday, which is maddeningly inconvenient.

Opening Night

It was a great movie, but not my favorite by John Cassavettes.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Such a thoroughly awesome film.  Elliott Gould is wonderful.

Hmmm... interesting.  My modify button didn't work for a minute there.
