My local town with a population of about 23k is to increase its bed size for refugees to 13k.  The horror of reading that in my local newspaper.  We are like France now.

No, like rats fleeing a sinking ship, they left in the Eighties. If you are old enough, you will recall that this was very big news during the Reagan years.

Then after 1991 a small number returned from Chicago to loot all the natural resources. They succeeded for a short time, until the drunken Yeltsin was replaced by Putin.

It was Joseph Stalin's "Great Purge" that destroyed the power of the Jews in the Russian government. If you want to read a fascinating account of this horrible event, read: The Great Terror; By Robert Conquest.
Skip the first 8 or 9 Chapters its full of Russian names that all sound alike; but from the 10th chapter on, its horrifyingly interesting.

You can buy shares of Gazprom on the Russian stock exchange and get paid a nice dividend.  Or start a business and pay a low 13% corporate income tax rate, one of the lowest rates in the world.  Russia is not communist.

They are socialist in their defense industry, I believe.  I might even be wrong about that.
