As the author, I am 100% biased, but I would love to hear what people think about the idea of my book (or the book itself) if they purchase it or read it FREE on Kindle. The book is an overall defense of the Middle Ages, focusing on its political systems (Kingship) while critiquing modernity and democracy.

I only found out quite recently that the Anglo-saxons treated monarchy different to the Normans.

The Anglo-saxons had something called the Witan.

The Witan retained the traditional right to elect monarchs from within the royal house, not always choosing the eldest son.

The Normans did not have this.

It was discussed in the following video:

"Exceptional...If you think the medieval era is synonymous with the Dark Ages, think again. Smith's informative and extensively researched Missing Monarchy first dispels long-held myths about the medieval period, kingship, and life in the Middle Ages, then delivers an eloquent and devastating critique of democracy. After reading, one begins to question the democratic authoritarianism and politicization of modern society that we all take for granted, while also feeling a sense of nostalgia and a longing for the freedoms of our medieval predecessors...For anyone who has ever dreamt of escaping modernity's Matrix, this book is an eye-opening must-read."

Congratulations! I first became interested in Monarchy decades ago after visiting Hawaii and learning that they have a "Return to Monarchy" movement. Poor Lanai would still be standing if they had ever been able to do so.
