Found this absolutely amazing huge Kling china head doll going for a song because she has a repaired shoulder plate. That won't show with clothes on, so it doesn't bother me. Once she has a properly proportioned body, she'll be 36" tall. I've always loved Klings because of their distinctive painting style, and I've wanted one for years. I never thought I'd find an affordable one, let alone such a big one. This might be the largest size they made. I've found a body pattern for $1.50 shipped, so I won't have to bother with enlarging the one I have. Perfect!

She's here! A week late, but worth it. OMG she's so beautiful. I'm still fiddling with the body pattern, but I think she'll be stunning when she's finished.

She's finished! I'm so pleased with how she turned out. She's 36" tall, just like the pattern said. https://imgur.com/a/Qqv8zIs

Lovely! You're very fast!
In conclusion, I can leave you with no better advice than that given after every sermon by Msgr Vincent Giammarino, who was pastor of St Michael's Church in Atlantic City in the 1950s:

Thanks! I used my super fast sewing machine instead of hand sewing like I'd originally wanted to. I actually made two bodies. The first ended up being too small in the shoulders, so i enlarged it and made another. The slowest part was filling the pieces with sawdust. That took forever.

I plan on making a German style wayside shrine to house our statue of O.L. of Mt. Carmel in the backyard.  I can cement the post in now and work on the shrine itself over winter. These actually used to be seen on roads in WI long, long, ago, although there are still a very few remaining.  It'll also solve the dilemma of keeping Our Lady above the snow come winter; I suspect those living in the Alps also encountered this dilemma....

I'm not sure, I'll have to look around, at least pictures of old designs for sure. But I'll likely end up borrowing some of my dad's woodworking equipment for some of the angles.

When I really delved into the origins of Our Lady of Mt Carmel I was surprised to discover it actually had nothing to do with the Scapular at all, but in many respects is another title (a "proto-title" as well) of Our Lady's Immaculate Conception.  The scapular just added more to it.

I see they got a picture of Canon Huberfeld enrolling First Communicants too at 8:20  :)

I got reenrolled yesterday.  I only vaguely recall getting enrolled before First Communion, but I wanted to be sure and get it properly done within the Traditional Roman Rite
