Combat Sports?

Something I've been wondering about, but don't have the answer to, is if pugilism, under the direction of a priest, can be directed toward good ends?

My take on this is it is in accordance with the right of self defense. Our St. Pope Pius V lead in organizing some of the successful Crusade against the Saracens and he is among the Saints who are with our Lord Jesus.
