Quote from: Bishop WilliamsonThe "promise to respect" as Church law the New Code of Canon Law is to respect a number of supposed laws directly contrary to Church doctrine.

Aaaaahhhhhhhh! That Gloria... Oh, what horrific memories that brings back from my NO days. It sends chills down my spine.

If you think that's bad, check this out - these people sing this atrocious song instead of the Dies Irae on All Souls Day!!!!  It makes me sick...

This one is made infinitely worse by the actions that usually accompany it during Mass... the hand jive from Grease.

Eek. This is bringing back a lot of unpleasant memories.

Guitars and white vestments...for a funeral.

This was the dismissal song when I was in high school:

Who could forget "Gloria, clap clap, gloria, clap clap, in excelsis Deo!"

I could only find a spanish version:

This one was often used for the Responsorial Psalm

Countless memories of this:

Anything out of the Gather hymnal.

Somebody actually parodied these songs:

Pretty funny, but I don't know if it's a good thing that I know these songs....

Think of it as mental battle scars.

Ahahahahaha.  "He will scratch of your sins with His talons."

I remember this one from my days as an Episcopalian.  It wasn't in the 1982 Hymnal, which was actually rather decent on the whole.  Rather, when I was a sacristan as an undergraduate, I got dragged into serving some horrid contemporary service called "Growing in Grace" that was intended for the students who couldn't be arsed to make it to church at 10:45 a.m.  There was one of those large drum-circle-type drums.  And we all held hands around the altar and served each other bread and wine.  The priest wore a stole over clericals.  It was the goofiest damned thing of which I've ever had the misfortune to be part.  I guess I just wasn't hip enough to get it...

Anything out of the Gather hymnal.

Which primarily includes anything by Marty Haugen (a non Catholic), David Haas, Dan Schutte (Jesuit educated) and Michael Joncas.

Yeah -- I'm scared of pressing play for that very reason.

That's a good way to think about it. Somehow, by God's great grace, we all survived the misfortune that is growing up in the NO with enough of a shred of Faith to discover tradition.
