Title: Hello from Munich!
Post by: KonservativerKatholik on September 19, 2020, 03:30:02 PM
After quite some time just "lurking" in the forum, I think it's time to finally say hello.

In recent years, I got more and more exposed to traditionalism and also attended an FSSP TLM a few times. Although this traditional form of Mass immediately felt to me to be the right and true form of celebration, I still clung to my NO parish mostly. Until recently we had a fairly conservative priest whom I deeply respected. I tried to explain to myself the deep crisis of the church with the usual excuses: The council was not implemented right, there was no break with tradition, etc.

With this priest now replaced with an utter progressive, this gave me the push to start attending TLM (FSSP) exclusively. Didn't talk to one of the priests there, yet, since I am still pondering whether this is the right place to be for me. In Munich, I have the luxury that a large SSPX priory is also nearby. I also consider going there, since FSSP - despite good intentions - is completely and utterly at the mercy of the rotten German episcopate.

Most likely I won't post that frequently. It has been quite helpful to me to follow the discussions other users have and just lurking. However, I hope I can contribute at times as well.

Thank you for introducing yourself, and welcome to the forum; I'm sorry that I didn't visit Munich; Southern Germany and Vienna when I had the money and opportunity to do so. I hope that you do contribute to the forum.

Is this another way to ask "do you lift?" in Munich?  I see Tim Budesheim must.

I'm actually German/Austrian and have a common German word for a family name (which we mispronounce somewhat intentionally, but that is a funny family story going back years).  Unfortunately I've never learned German although I've puttered on Duolingo a bit.   I took a quick bus tour of Europe including the Oberammergau Passion play 20 years ago with my mom but I don't think we even passed by Munich.

Welcome, KonservativerKatholik

LOL
You should have subjected him to the full treatment  ;D but he's probably seen it.
Funny thing is you wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for Kaiser Bill attacking
Belgium.

It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good.

Welcome.  How fortunate for you to have the "problem" of choosing between SSPX and FFSP.  I have had only good experiences with both.  Even here in Canada I hear stories about how notorious the bishops of Germany are for lack of orthodoxy, so I can understand this being a major concern for you.  I pray for you to make a good decision and to grow in faith.
