already registered. The service is now slow due to the influx of millions of new members but they are working on an expansion. I like the fact that there is no porn allowed and hate speech.

If Gab is already completely controlled by Marxists they wouldn't be after it.  We can't quit SD right away because it could be supressed someday. We have to speak truth as freely as we can while we can. Use the imperfect means we have while available.

Unconvincing.  The fact that Gab is not or may not yet be completely controlled by Marxists isn't a reason to sign up for yet another social media site like FB or Twitter in order to spread the truth. These things cause addiction and social breakdown. Especially when Gab does not allow "hate speech" as suggested, which is a red flag.

Did Trump using them from the beginning, and his followers, cause social breakdown? Maybe it contributed. I'm not a social media fan and only have skeletal accounts. The problem is that they (however defective) HAVE been used for conservative free speech and that free speech is now being supressed.

Stop engaging the culture war through social media.  Look at the "riots" last week.  Elon Musk made a good point with a meme blaming FB culture resulting in that group storming the Capitol.  The social media culture with these sites stirs up a chaotic kind of conflict resulting in senseless acts (antifa).  The pscychodrama of liberals vs. conservatives playing out like a perpetual food fight supposedly to promote the truth.   I was never a fan of Trump's daily tweets.

The Trump movement was the last hope.  I'm now strongly leaning to the conclusion that Trump's fight is over, i.e. the American conservative movement is over.  This is a very hard conclusion to reach, entering a new dystopian paradigm like Greg would talk about.  I'm an idealist temperamentally, so I've been very politically engaged at different times in my life, like in the pro-life work I did after college.  But the paradigm now is that Communism (its core errors) has now taken over (the world) and is/will certainly gain control of every continent.  There seems now practically nothing we can prudently do directly engaging the culture war going forward, imo, THAT IS trying to restore the Nation from within the System.  It is better to step back and say little if anything, and be a witness to the NWO slowly descend into a global Dystopia, and just try and save our neighbors locally and family.  I think that actually reflects the pre-VII papal approach of building up the Church in the modern world as a "Citadel" somewhat separate from the secularist mainstream, yet today the Citadel is the small remnant of true-believing Catholics in the small minority reduced to the status of the early Christians under pagan Rome. 

And then in a few generations, we can start to pick up the pieces.  At this point though, the question that remains for me is: while standing behind our sandwich boards in our Catholic homesteads, watching it all outside descend into hell, should we be laughing or crying?   It is hard for me to laugh at the world go to hell, while I have the Faith (a gift).  But then righteousness is a virtue, and I'm sure somewhere in Scripture (OT?) God has us laugh at our enemies (ie enemies of God punished for their rebellious ways). 

Do you have the answer to THAT question?

I don't have answers to big questions.

I just hope there are LITTLE good things that can be done and evil things that can be prevented (whether in family or even outside, wherever we go) even if the world as a whole is hopeless for now and we must suffer and watch suffering.

In my opinion, hate speech is the New Porn in this country:  poisonous, obscene, addictive, dehumanizing, out of control, and demonic in origin.

I briefly violated my New Year's resolution this evening, but I did so because I have modified that resolution.  When the rock musician whose label abandoned him was being interviewed by TC, it was the musician Ariel Pink, not TC, who introduced the chilling, consuming level and power of the "hatred" (Pink's word) on the Left.  The musician has been shattered by that hatred; it was visible and audible. And he's not even a Trump supporter per se but just an opponent of Cancel Culture who got brutally canceled for attending a rally and nothing else.

Corporate media is now nothing more than a "respectable" Mafia, teaching anyone who opposes them a lesson, which in this case was destroying his livelihood.

People need to disassociate from FB and all such corporate monsters and form new allegiances.
