A good documentary, especially if you are a cold war baby.

Some things:

a) if  you are Canadian, be aware. The outcome was not good.
b) Ggregg, I think you and the Mrs.(along with the older kids) will like this
c) if you are an historian and want interpersonal historiography, this is a good addendum(codicil)
d) go Avalanche!

Looks like a good movie. Unlike Don Cherry, I've always been able to appreciate the Soviet Russian system. Apparently some Canadian went over there years before the Summit Series and invented it because everyone in Canada thought he was a quack.

I don't think that is true. Anatoli Tarasov established Russian hockey after WWII. Prior to that, hockey was not played in Russia as it is known now. It was some hybrid game.

Divergent. I had zero emotional connection to this movie. I wasn't even annoyed by its terribleness. Just thought, "Well, that's over."

What was garbage?  The military aspect?  The life at home aspect?  Too fake?  Or just the whole movie?  I ask because you are the first person with a military background I've heard of that didn't like it.

Watched Big Hero 6 with the kids- loved it.

We just watched this last night.  Very cute.  A couple of inappropriate things said that definitely did not need to be in the movie (why do they do that!!?), but none of the kids seemed to catch it...so overall we liked it a lot.

I just thought it was boring really. The guy's an insufferable dick....there was almost no plot to it at all...except for the little bit of trying to get that other sniper I couldn't really tell you what the movie was about. I just straight up didn't like it. Contrast it to Saving Private Ryan for example...that movie had purpose, it had a solid plot, it made sense, some people did some stupid stuff but all in all I feel like that's how people would act 90% of the time in that situation. American Sniper was just that...American. Far too much for my tastes.

Not the people I know that have seen it.  Especially the military ones.  I thought it was loud and clear.
